Job Description
TITLE: Lead Database Engineer
DUTIES: DFS Corporate Services LLC seeks Lead Database Engineer in Riverwoods, IL to monitor databases for performance degradation, connectivity issues, system events and alerts. Update and manage tickets through resolution with vendors and internal support groups. Test, analyze, perform corrective actions, and restore availability and services in a timely and accurate manner to eliminate and reduce application impact. Provide timely notifications to management/outage team and escalate tickets to appropriate internal and external management as needed. Perform scheduled changes, including patching, maintenance, deployment, decommission, configuration, and performance tuning for all hardware and software used to support the database infrastructure. Participate with infrastructure and application teams regarding project work, POCs and troubleshooting exercises. Participate in pager rotation to provide 24x7 support for all database system environments, including Prod, Test, and Development. Promote a risk-aware culture to ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field of study and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation: building, managing and administering data platforms, including Snowflake, Teradata, Redshift, and Data Warehouse data platforms; utilizing Cloud / Amazon Web Services (AWS) and on prem technology; performing scientific computing with Python, R, and ML; supporting a large data platform and data pipeline; utilizing ETL tools such as Abinitio and BI tools, including Tableau and SAS; working with Graph databases; working with Data engineers to tune queries, implement physical models, and design and implement secure data sharing.
