What will your day look like?

You will be responsible to provide hands-on guidance and lead the team to turn raw data into reports and dashboards to help leadership and business better understand performance and drive strategic and tactical decision-making abilities. The manager collaborates with all channel owners and various cross functional teams such as Marketing, Risk, Finance and Member Services to collaboratively influence strategies and decision making. In addition, the incumbent helps the team to build capacity to improve risk monitoring and business reporting for both holistic and granular views throughout the life cycle of loans. This manager is also responsible for driving solutions that require bringing together data from various data sources and working across many different teams of the organization. Resources to do the job require reliance on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals utilizing a highly analytical mindset and a wide degree of latitude. General direction is received from the Senior Manager, Decision Science and Insight.

Responsibilities

Strategic:

  • Enhance the BI ability for informed business decisions and build BI capacity to enhance credit and marketing strategies tied to loss and revenue outcomes
  • Develop and modify complex reports, verify information integrity and design dashboards, scorecards, charts/graphs, drill-downs, and dynamic reports to meet new information needs
  • Apply business analysis skills to complicated analytical asks and make recommendations for preferred solutions, with consideration of associated business benefits, risks, cost and timescales
  • Understand and drive analytical business objectives, the metrics that are the most important to accomplish the objects, and how to measure performance with minimal supervision
  • Work closely with other Data Science and IT teams to build and maintain data capabilities
  • Derive actionable insights through critical analysis and data visualization
  • Lead team by demonstrating a high level of emotional intelligence, business intelligence, knowledge sharing and teaching through strong collaboration
  • Lead preparation, development and analysis of reports, metrics, presentations and dashboards to optimize decision making by the business line managers
  • Develop and implement profitability analytics in conjunction with business users, department managers and other key stakeholders
  • Work concurrently with the Data Governance, Information Security and Data Services for the identification, collection and use of instrument level data while ensuring accuracy and validity

Development:

  • Collaborate with end users regarding data and reporting requirements, business objectives, and data analytic needs
  • Meet with key stakeholders and business owners to identify user requirements by researching and analyzing user needs, preferences, objectives, and working methods; studying how users consume content, including data categorization and labeling
  • Develop technical design documents and mapping specifications
  • Lead strategy and develop content for analytics presentations

Operational:

  • Provide data and analytics to business partners for periodic business updates with Sr. Leadership
  • Analyze and optimize performance of member acquisition and marketing
  • Monitor performance of new members to ensure they remain engaged
  • Identify experiences that will engage members
  • Address data related issues with regards to profitability system integration, compatibility, and multiple-platform integration

Finance:

  • Lead team in leveraging analytics to identify and enrich revenue enhancement or expense reduction opportunities
  • Continuously improve and construct new capabilities around performance metric analysis and reporting to track key Alliant financial objectives and targets
  • Provide information to management by assembling and summarizing data; preparing reports; present findings, analyses, and recommendations
  • Lead the analysis of financial performance for business initiatives, special projects, member relationship (SEG), new products, channels, etc. and partner with cross-functional peers to provide recommendations and action steps
  • Be proactive in automating and simplifying processes and reporting structures through standardization

Leadership and Performance Management:

  • Deliver superior results through quality execution and best practice adaptation
  • Demonstrate courage, ability and agility to understand and address organizational transition in real-time; establish expectations for the unexpected
  • Capture, analyze, and understand the internal environment, team dynamics, and talent capabilities to address organizational refinement, agility and growth
  • Champion Employee/Internal Customer Engagement, employee development and all cultural hallmarks through a strong leadership signature and a growing command of Alliant's leadership competencies
  • Apply High Performance Management practices in leading an engaged workforce in order to effectively leverage the full potential and talent of this function
  • Mentor and provide insights to Business Intelligence team with the aim of helping to foster development, talent optimization and engagement. Provide a structured and consistent approach to ensure that individual development plans are in place, performance management is consistent, performance management process is respected and followed, and coaching and feedback are provided on a regular and dynamic basis

Qualifications

What makes you a great fit?

You'll be a great fit if in addition to the completion of a

Bachelor degree in Finance, Business, Advanced Mathematics, Statistics or Information Systems, and related majors required, (Master/MBA or progress towards either preferred), and you have:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience; report development, data science, business analytics, business intelligence or comparable data engineering role
  • Financial service experience preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency of delivering analytical solutions to drive business value
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills and the ability to build robust cross-functional relationships
  • Strong Experience with BI tools, such as SAP BO and Tableau, and Workflow tools, such as Tableau Prep or Alteryx
  • Strong Experience in SQL (Microsoft T-SQL experience preferred)
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing and business intelligence
  • Ability to think critically and creatively to identify ways to leverage data to improve team success
  • Strong hands-on capability and spirit of leading by example
  • Robust data analysis skills and ability to work with large data sets, data control and financial modeling
  • Ability to multi-task and deal with heavy volume period with tight time parameters
  • Experience with visualization applications required
  • Highly collaborative in order to work effectively with employees at all levels within the organization
  • Strong written and oral communication skills across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to influence without authority
  • Desire to continually learn and improve approaches and methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a highly effective team

Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
Alliant employees can contribute up to $2,750 annually to their Health Care FSA and $5,000 to their dependent care FSA.
