We are rebuilding our Data Engineering practice to enable the company’s success by building a solid data foundation. We are seeking a Data Engineering Manager to help us define and realize our vision for trustworthy data across the company.

What are examples of work that the Data Engineering Manager will do at VillageMD?

  • Drive hiring, onboarding and retain talented Team Leads, Tech Leads and Data Engineers
  • Coach engineers through the data delivery process
  • Facilitate regular 1:1s and career growth conversations with your direct reports, that includes: goal setting, feedback, code reviews, coaching, and mentoring
  • Keep a constant pulse across the engineering department to ensure team satisfaction and health, continuous growth and learning, and overall alignment
  • Develop systems, strategies, high standards and collaborate closely with other stakeholders to deliver business value
  • Build and enforce engineering best practices including design documentation and routine standups
  • Manage teams at a high level and prioritize tasks

  • Exposure to a broad range of healthcare data including clinical and payer
  • Strong analytical and technical skills
  • A real passion for creating innovative data solutions
  • A low ego and humility; an ability to gain trust by delivering value

The following experience is relevant to us:

  • 10+ years of development experience including extensive experience with healthcare data
  • Demonstrable experience in data structures, relational databases, SQL and data management
  • 2+ years of cloud engineering/architectural experience (preferably AWS)
  • 5+ years of software development experience (python, scala, java)
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills across distributed teams
