Responsible for the activities related to database administration and systems development support. Under indirect supervision, analyzes and implements the physical model of the database within established standards, ensuring the best performance. Supports multiple services and multiple databases of medium to high complexity (complexity defined by database size, technology used, systems feeds, and interfaces) with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity, and accessibility of data. Works on multiple projects simultaneously.
Works directly with application teams, clients and related infrastructure teams to design, develop and support high performing and highly available database solutions. Implements database technology solutions for projects medium to large in scope, typically cross-functional and technically complex.
Receives general supervision from management and team leads and is competent to work at high levels during the technical phases of database development and support. At times, may act as a project leader and/or be involved in providing assistance and training to lower level staff.
Responsibilities
- Performs scheduled changes (patching, maintenance, deployment, decommission, configuration, performance tuning) for all hardware and software used to support the database infrastructure.
- Participates with infrastructure and application teams regarding project work, POCs, and/or troubleshooting exercises.
- Participates in pager rotation to provide 24×7 support for all database system environments (Prod, Test, Development).
- Monitors databases for performance degradation, connectivity issues, system events, and alerts. Updates and manages tickets through resolution with vendors and internal support groups. Tests, analyzes, performs corrective actions, and restores availability and services in a timely and accurate manner to eliminate/reduce application impact. Provides timely notifications to management/outage team and escalates tickets to the appropriate internal and external management as needed.
- Provide Efficient SQL Server Database solutions to Applications onboarding with SQL Server.
- Provide SQL expertise in query performance tuning and enhancements.
- Participate in a pager rotation to provide 24×7 Level 2 support.
- Support a number of major applications (Development, testing, & production installation).
- Provide database consulting services to infrastructure and application teams on project developments.
- Research and implement new database technologies to enhance existing database infrastructure.
- Train junior associates about the latest features of SQL Server.
Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Database Administration, IT, or related field
- 4+ years of experience in Database, IT, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
If we had our say, we’d also look for:
- Minimum 5-8 years of SQL Server Database Administration along with Production Support experience.
- Experience with SQL Server 2016,2017,Always-ON,Replication,Failover Clustering, Table Partitioning, DB-Mirroring, Query Tuning
- Experience with SSIS (SQL Server Integration Service), SSRS (Reporting Service), SSAS (Analysis Services).
- Ability to Troubleshoot performance issues on Prod
- Technical documentation skills.
- Project and team leadership.
- Must have excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Reasonably stable work history and excellent work ethic are musts.
