Job Description

As Daxko's Database Administrator, you'll be tasked with supporting our production and development MySQL and Postgres databases and ensuring their performance, availability, recovery, and security. 

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of DBA tasks for our MySQL and Postgres DB Technology Products
  • Lead and mentor Associate and Mid-level DBAs across assigned LOBs
  • Manage production database users and permissions
  • Manage backup and recovery for production databases
  • Design schemas and other database objects
  • Support team with extracting and importing databases with MySQL and Postgres
  • Assist production support on customer issues
  • Provide assistance to Engineering teams
  • Monitor DB Server(s) and resolve performance issues
  • Set up and manage DB Clustering Setups
  • Be a part of the on-call rotation
  • Perform standard MySQL and Postgres maintenance tasks
  • Assist in all database server updates
  • Work with Engineering and Test teams on performance turning of release items
  • Develop automated DBA tasks for efficiency

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years MySQL and Postgres experience
  • Experience working with cloud platform technologies and Linux
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience
  • Proficient in 2-3 database technologies such as MySQL, Postgres, DynamoDB, MongoDB, MSSQL
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot query performance based on Query plans of multiple database technologies
  • Available some nights and weekends for on-call responsibilities
  • Background working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Strong self-sufficiency and initiative working on database projects
  • Self-motivated and directed, with a high level of attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills 
  • Ability and desire to learn and grow your skills in the DBA world
