Job Description

Avant’s success can be attributed in large part to its early investment in data; as a result, the ingrained culture today dictates that business decisions are only implemented when supported by data – trustworthy, reliable, and complete data. We are in no shortage of data, generated through our own applications as well as from dozens of outside platforms. We have the business chops to analyze and optimize processes across our products and the leadership who can successfully implement and communicate the changes.

We need your magic to help us get the data over to our business users, from raw to ready-to-interpret. You will work to turn data into critical information and knowledge that the operations team can use to make sound decisions. You will work with the business to design and document dashboards, alerts and reports. You would expose new data in our BI platform Looker and join it to relevant existing tables. You may also be tasked to revamp a manual process, simplifying it and automating it (partially or fully) – becoming your colleagues’ time savior in the process!

• Work with business users in order to scope what they’re trying to achieve
• Identify resources needed and conceptualize some potential solutions
• Present your recommendations to the team and adjust based on feedback
• Build out future-proof processes that are user-friendly and well documented
• Explore vast repositories of data using BI platform in search for answers

What you might own at Avant:

• Generate mapping tables that ties together data from disparate sources
• Design visualizations of metrics frequently referenced by decisions makers
• Break ground on new data sources, recommend improvements to existing ones 
• Develop fuzzy matching algorithm that identifies representatives across platforms

• BA/BS in an analytical field (ex. Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Finance)

• Contributed to open-source projects or participated in online data competitions
