TITLE: Principal Data Engineer

DUTIES: DFS Corporate Services LLC seeks Principal Data Engineer in Riverwoods, IL to provide engineering leadership to create and enhance data solutions enabling seamless integration and flow of data across the data ecosystem. Utilize multiple development languages/tools such as Shell/Python/Scala/Java/Spring to build prototypes and evaluate results for effectiveness and feasibility. Work on real time processing solutions using tools such as Apache Spark, Apache Storm, Apex and Kafka. Utilize Agile/SCRUM methodologies working in a fast-paced environment with other high caliber engineers. Leverage DevOps techniques and practices like Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, Test Automation, Build Automation and TDD to enable the rapid delivery of end user capabilities. Operationalize open source data-analytic tools for enterprise use. Well versed with Linux/Unix operating system. Experience with SQL/PL SQL and/or NoSQL database. Build high quality software for large scale and highly available systems. Assist application development teams during application design and development for highly complex and critical data projects. Provide subject matter expertise in the business analysis, preparation of specifications and plans for the development of data processes. Promote a risk-aware culture, ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.

REQUIREMENTS : Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Distributed and Multimedia Information Systems, Information Systems, Computer Science or a related quantitative field and six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in job offered or related position: designing, developing and implementing software module components in computing environments; evaluating technology use, needs and recommending software and hardware improvements; developing use case documents for enhancements according to business requirements; implementing Web services according to Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) concepts; implementing Agile/XP software development practices; utilizing Spring and J2EE design patterns such as dependency injection, DAO, Abstract Factory; configuring and utilizing JMS to perform batch processing requests; developing Java caching modules to cache frequently used data; participating in bug fixes and troubleshooting issues. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Master’s degree and four (4) years of experience in the above listed skills.
