Job Description
TITLE: Principal Data Science
DUTIES: Discover Products Inc., seeks Principal Data Science in Riverwoods, IL to work closely with management to execute analytical initiatives. Provide thought leadership and strategic thinking to translate business problems into analytical frameworks, and independently recommend actions and provide business insights. Operate as a subject matter expert on statistical analysis, test and design of experiments, analysis methodology, modeling and applications, and financial impact analysis. Collaborate with cross-functional partners to understand their business needs and formulate and complete end-to-end analysis that includes data gathering, analysis, ongoing scaled deliverables and presentations. Facilitate implementation of work product and ensure accuracy. Establish and maintain effective performance tracking, identify improvement opportunities, form hypothesis, and propose, design, and implement tests to drive strategy enhancement and optimization. Lead the development and implementation of advanced analytics, including customer segmentation, optimization, prescriptive analytics and machine learning algorithms, and make recommendations to solve business problems. Lead the development of analytical capabilities with the aim of creating long-term strategic data/analytics assets for the company. Deliver effective presentations of findings and recommendations to multiple levels of leadership, creating visual displays of quantitative information. Develop and automate reports and iteratively build and prototype dashboards to provide insights at scale, solving for analytical needs. Follow standard work processes and documentation requirements. Recommend improvements to work processes to increase efficiency while maintaining quality of work. Improve technical and leadership skills through training and development. Promote a risk-aware culture to ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Integrated Marketing Communications, Statistics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field and six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in job offered or related position: utilizing statistical packages in Unix and PC environments; presenting technical material to technical and non-technical audiences; and utilizing technologies, including SAS and SQL. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in the above-listed fields and four (4) years of experience in the above-listed skills.
