Principal Database Architect
About the Role
As the Principal Database Architect, you will be responsible for the overall big data architecture and the cloud-based modern data environments that support the advanced analytics, data science, data quality, and product/research initiatives on fixed income data and portfolio data. You will define of the principles, standards, and technical solutions regarding data flows, data aggregation, data migration, and data integration. You will collaborate with the business team and development team in an agile environment providing critical architectural and data input to evaluate and support new data initiatives.
Job Responsibilities• Design End-to-end cloud data solutions including architecture, infrastructure, storage, data model, ETL/ELT, and data publishing• Define the technical implementation, translate requirements into design specs.• Work with dev team in developing, testing, and deploying the defined solutions.• Define solution standards and best practices while providing hands-on oversight of technical delivery• Work across the entire organization, in partnership with the other teams, as the subject matter expert to provide guidance on best practices for large data architectures, ensure the architectures are in line with the enterprise strategies and principles.• Support the business team in building and managing conceptual, logical, and physical models• Work with business team in data driven decision making with data analytics support• Design and build data flows, quality framework, security, and data publishing protocol to various channel and platform including data lake
Qualifications• 8+ years of professional technical experience, 3+ years of cloud data architecture, data visualization and advance analytic solutions• 3+ years of experience in Java, Python, or .net.• Experience in the design, development, and implementation of enterprise data solutions from end to end.• Extensive experience with OLTP/OLAP database (PostgreSQL, AWS RDS, AWS Aurora, Redshift, Athena)• Proficient in Analytical SQL window functions.• Experience in workflow orchestration system such as Airflow, AWS Step Functions, AWS Simple Workflow Service• Experience in developing complex conceptual and logical data models (along with physical implementations of the logical models)• Knowledge in financial and investment data, fixed Income domain knowledge preferred.• Experience in architecture for commercial scale data pipelines• Experience designing and building scalable and robust data pipelines to enable data-driven decisions for the business• Familiar with Amazon AWS tech stacks• Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau, Quicksight.• Passionate about programming and learning new technologies.• Effective problem solving and analytical skills.• Aware of and motivated by driving business value• Experience in building data products incrementally, integrating and managing large data sets from multiple sources• Experience with modern development practices in areas of Product design, Requirement Analysis, Test Driven Development, Automation & Unit Testing, in a product development environment.• Strong communication skills.
