ThinkMarkets is seeking a Quantitative Analyst to join our Chicago team! This role will be focused on operational support of trading on proprietary platforms, as well as monitoring of market risk across the entire order book. The ideal candidate will have middle or back-office experience in trading-related roles, and experience building or refining existing operational procedures. If you’ve worked with FX, futures, and equities in the past and have a strong quantitative background, we want to hear from you!

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Collaborate with trading and risk management teams to develop and implement powerful best practices for quantitative modeling
  • Assist in developing core algorithms and models to drive successful trading decisions
  • Back test and implement short-term trading strategies across multi-asset markets based on in-house and market data
  • Develop and continuously improve pricing models, weighing insight from team members and trends
  • Evaluate financial data vendors; assess and work with new data sources; liaise with IT to optimize company data infrastructure
  • Define and assess model specifications and data collection methods for optimum reliability and efficacy
  • Perform ad-hoc data analysis and provide technical support for trading and other related departments

 

 Eligible candidates must satisfy at least one of the following minimum requirements:

 

  • Masters or PhD degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Quantitative Finance or another highly quantitative field
  • PhD in other science or engineering fields, with an interest in finance modeling
  • 3-5 years of work experience within the Trading industry, preferably with implementing and enhancing trading strategies
  • Strong knowledge of probability and statistics (e.g. stochastic calculus, machine learning, time-series analysis, and pattern recognition)
  • Strong analytical skills; experience working with and analyzing large, complex datasets
  • Proficient in at least one of the common programming languages, compiled (C++, Ada, C#, Java) or scripts (Python, Perl, or equivalent)
  • Experience with analytical and statistical packages (e.g. Python, R, Matlab)
  • Experience with relational databases (MySQL, SQL Server, etc.)
  • Demonstrable knowledge of financial modeling in areas such as asset pricing, portfolio construction, risk management and market micro-structure
  • Demonstrable interest in or knowledge of FX, Commodities, Equities, Options and Cryptocurrency
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g, Tableau, Qilk Sense, RStudio Connect)
  • Professional certification (e.g. CFA, FRM, CAIA) holder or candidate preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive in a fast-paced team environment
