You will provide data engineering to improve the flow of data into our warehouse, and also design and build reusable reporting objects to be used in dashboards. Our reporting and analytics platform is being used internally for strategic decision-making by NextCapital leadership and will be used externally through an interface for partners to access relevant data, both operational and strategic.

The ideal candidate is results-driven, hands-on, able to break down complex problems, uses prototypes to quickly test out possible solutions, and can learn new tools on the fly.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Write SQL procedures to reformat transactional data into a reporting-friendly structure
  • Understand the incoming data and build functionality needed for data cleansing
  • Based on reporting requirements, design and build reusable reporting objects within our Data Visualization software (Looker)
  • Review raw Web Analytics data and build a solution which allows for better reporting, integrating with transactional data
  • Build sample dashboards that demonstrate the functionality of your reporting object design
  • Work with other development teams to expose reporting functionality to partners using Looker’s API
  • Establish development standards and practices, and review and provide feedback on reporting work by non-developers
  • Help implement a global data security/permissions solution
  • Analyze loads and performance, and suggest solutions to bottlenecks
  • Establish and contribute to documentation

WHERE THIS ROLE MAY LEAD YOU

  • Own the architecture of a particular component of our reporting solution
  • Be the overall technical lead for the data/analytics group
  • Mentor and manage a group of developers and architects
  • Become a subject matter expert in key business analytics for the company as a whole

Requirements

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • 4+ years of database development experience, including Data Engineering and Report Development
  • Expert SQL and Python skills
  • Strong general scripting/coding skills
  • Demonstrable ability to learn and become productive on new platforms and tools quickly
  • You are a team player, able to work with coworkers in the product and technology areas
  • You have strong communication skills and can convince people to buy into your vision
  • You are constantly learning, driven to understand the data content of what other product areas produce, and give your opinion on how best to expose it to internal and external audiences
  • You are adept at figuring out how to adjust solutions to meet an expected timeline

***At this time, NextCapital will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position***
