In a nutshell:

  • You can walk into a room of stakeholders and facilitate a two-hour elicitation session with only a paragraph of text and your own research as inputs
  • You can always answer the question “What should we do next?”
  • You can think from the client and product point of view
  • You avoid the urge to suggest solutions before you and your team have a thorough understanding of the client’s need
  • When you know that communication needs to improve you can pull out a tool or technique to make that happen
  • You can own your todo list and set your priorities that supports the client

If this sounds like you, we’d love to meet.

Why is this role important for Nerdery’s work?

Our Business Analysts are essential to shepherding in the strategic vision crafted by our Strategy Practice. Business Analysts are client-facing and are expected to use their skills to help grow our client’s businesses.

Why Nerdery?

Nerdery is a digital consultancy entering one of the most exciting phases of growth in its 15-year history. We start by identifying business value and digital strategy, and how they relate to the human experience. Then we move all the way through design and engineering. That means we can not only come up with the innovative ideas companies need to win in the new economy, but we can actually build the solution right in-house without any discontinuity.

We work in the sub-$10B space because the Global 1000 and Fortune 500 companies are over served. However, there are thousands of companies who face the exact same challenges without nimble, high-quality partners that don’t have the same overhead, obligations, and impersonality of a massive global consultancy.

You will not work on projects, you will work with products. There isn’t another company that leverages Business Analysis strategic skills the way we do.

When you need support you can ping any one of your team members and get an immediate response. We believe that the strength of our team is dependent on the collaborative nature of its members. We challenge you to find a more collaborative team to support your growth.

Once here, you will:

During pre-sales you will research and conduct gap analyses of potential clients in order to understand and document their opportunities. You will quickly gain context and observe the issues from the client’s point of view.

As you dig into the early stages of the project you will elicit the client’s need which will inform the solution since a thorough understanding of the need comes before solutioning.

You will then take your elicitation results and collaborate with our badass XD Practice as they intake the need to creatively solve the client’s problems. You also provide the context that they need in order to think strategically about the long-term needs.

As the granularity increases, who better than you to define the functionality of the solution while collaborating with the XD, Engineering, and QA Practices? You will take all the previous inputs and ensure that the client’s vision is carried out at the functional level.

The Nerdery’s Business Analysis Practice believes strongly in the theme of “no surprises.” When expectations are missed then surprises happen. You are responsible to make sure that surprises do not occur at any point during our relationship with our clients.

You know that for any of your work to be successful that from the beginning to the end you will have the question in your mind, “What will make this product successful?” Since the answer to this changes you will adapt your process to be able to answer that question at any stage which allows you to create next steps at any point in the product life cycle.

Relevant experience and mindset:

  • Familiarity with the G Suite
  • Demonstrated excellence working as a Business Analyst, Product Manager, Product Manager, or Digital Consultant
  • Understand Project Methodology processes and deliverables, including the Product Development Life Cycle and change control processes
  • Tailor communications to fit the audience and situation and ensure that the correct understanding is conveyed
  • Can bend requirements management tools to your will
    • Jira
    • Spreadsheets
    • Aha
    • Visio
    • LucidChart
  • IIBA certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field
