Reverb is a leading online marketplace for buying and selling new, used, and vintage musical instruments. Since launching in 2013, Reverb has grown into a vibrant community of buyers and sellers all over the world. By focusing on inspiring content, price transparency, musician-focused eCommerce tools, a music-savvy customer service team, and more, Reverb has created an online destination where the global music community can connect over the perfect piece of music gear.
Analysts at Reverb use rigorous analytics to generate reporting and insights that inform financial, product, marketing and business decisions across the company. Ultimately, the team’s work strengthens Reverb and helps continuously improve the accuracy and efficiency of our financial reporting and analysis. Learning new skills and techniques is not only a requirement but a perk of the job; we are always looking for opportunities to improve. Our mission is to tell the story of what is transpiring in the world of Reverb — to teams, to senior management, and to the community.

Reverb’s Senior Data Analyst - Finance will be part of the Analytics team and play an integral role supporting Reverb’s financial infrastructure - we own critical financial reporting systems, continuously drive process improvement, and provide an analytical framework for critical decisions impacting revenue and operational drivers. The position requires an experienced analytics professional capable of juggling multiple priorities in a dynamic, rapidly growing organization who can partner across organizational and functional boundaries to drive loosely defined projects to successful completion.

In this role you will:
  • Transform raw data into meaningful analysis characterized by strong data governance, technique transparency and thorough documentation and communication.
  • Partner with Strategy & Finance to support and deliver key insights to Product and Marketing functions.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance, FP&A, and Accounting, Engineering, and other teams to improve financial analysis and reporting processes.
  • Identify metrics to understand the performance of the company’s key initiatives and measure process efficiency, develop dashboards and/or reports to track performance.
  • Continually evaluate and refine your technical toolkit; teach what you learn to the team.

Skills / Experience Required:
  • 4 - 6 years experience supporting finance or accounting teams as an analyst or in a quantitative role in which you extracted meaning from complex data sets.
  • Highly proficient in SQL. Experience with Python is also useful.
  • Communication skills to present your insights verbally, visually and in writing.
  • Proven project management skills are capable of carrying projects through to completion with little direct guidance.
  • Care deeply about the quality of your data and the integrity of your work.
  • You care about reproducible work and have picked up tools to this end; you can teach others how to make their own work better and more efficient.
  • You are passionate about subjects such as quantitative analysis, data visualization, and process efficiency.

What are Reverb Perks + Benefits

Reverb Benefits Overview

Not many people can say that they keep a bass guitar next to their desk for an impromptu jam session or that they’ve sung along as their CTO belted out Rage Against the Machine at their annual holiday party, but that’s just a day in the life of a Reverb team member. The team stays motivated through weekly all-company meetings, where several team members give TED-style talks on everything from Taekwondo to improv comedy. Another motivator? The fact that all employees have ownership in the company via equity plans.

Every two weeks, employees learn from music gear experts from inside and outside of the organization through sessions ranging from “How to Set up Your Amp Without Blowing it Up” to “DJ Basics 101” and each month, several employees are recognized via the “Reverb Badass” prize drawing. Of course, there’s always tons of music, whether at our desks, seeping through the doors of our video room, or at a monthly happy hour — and it’s not uncommon to see a rock star roaming the halls.

Other perks we love? Monthly free lunches, daily healthy snacks, unlimited vacation, and birthday cake. Reverb’s flexible hours and vacation policy also make it an ideal workplace, particularly for musicians who might need to leave early for a gig or take off a few weeks for a European tour. Above all else, employees love working at Reverb because the company is making an impact: Reverb is making the world a more musical place by making it easy to buy and sell music gear.
