Responsibilities include:

  • Act as the senior member of a cross-functional, agile data development team.
  • Jump in and solve the most complex technical problems and design issues. Initiate and lead refactoring effort.
  • Be a top-notch coder on the team, capable of deep diving into implementation details of components and features across the technology stacks.
  • Stay on top of and drive adoption of advanced cloud-based features and capabilities where it makes sense.
  • Champion, nurture and guard Agile/DevOPS software development mindset within the team and supporting functions.
  • Work closely with Platform/Enterprise Architects to develop optimal software/system architecture
  • Bridge the gap between high-level architecture developed by Enterprise/Platform Architects and the detailed solutions design input needed by the delivery teams.
  • Work closely with data operations to develop the most optimal system architecture/deployment design for content core platforms 


  • B.S. / M.S. Computer Science or equivalent, with strong fundamentals and problem-solving skills (such as data structures, computational algorithms, and operating systems).
  • 5 years of software engineering experience, a track record of building highly scalable, high-quality systems in a direct-to-consumer business. Should had played a critical role in the development of such systems.
  • Expertise with Data driven software development and complicated data sets
    • Python, PySpark, Spark
    • Strong SQL background
    • Java or Scala is a bonus
  • Expertise in relational database design, practical experience of developing systems with NoSQL/MongoDB/Couchbase.
  • Experience in developing or working with machine learning pipelines (TensorFlow is a plus)
  • Experience with AWS or other public cloud provider, containerized deployments, Kubernetes, and working in DevOPS environment.

Successful candidate must be willing and able to travel, when necessary. Estimated travel is approximately 15%.

Health Insurance & Wellness Benefits
Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
We offer two healthcare FSAs: A medical FSA for those on the PPO health insurance plan and a limited purpose FSA for dental and vision spending. Both allow you to contribute funds pre-tax.
Disability Insurance
Both short- and long-term disability is covered at 100% for our employees.
Dental Benefits
We offer two options for dental coverage (including dependents), with 50% of premium subsidized. We cover adult orthodontics and up to 100% of preventative care, depending on the plan choice.
Vision Benefits
Pareto subsidizes 25% of your vision premium and offers an allowance for frames and contacts. Annual eye exams are fully covered.

Child Care Benefits
We have an additional FSA that is funded pre-tax and can be used for dependent care (daycare, nanny, etc.), where we contribute up to $5,000 annually.
Generous Parental Leave
We offer at least 12 weeks maternity leave and at least 2 weeks paternity leave. You do not have to work at the company for a certain amount of time before you can use it.
Flexible Work Schedule

Remote Work Program

What are some social events your company does?

One of the best parts of being on the Pareto team is spending time with coworkers outside of work. We go on a yearly brewery tour, monthly team dinners and happy hours. We also join the larger firm for other events such as a Cub’s Rooftop and annual golf outing, where we spend a day golfing and grilling out at one of the partners’ summer home.

Now, I am a Senior Data Operations Engineer on a team the company relies on for expertise and analysis on all healthcare data we receive. Pareto has given me the resources and opportunities to not only grow my technical skills, but also my knowledge of the healthcare industry.

How do you make yourself accessible to the rest of the team?

Spending time face-to-face with my team is important to me. I make a point to visit my team at their work spaces and catch up periodically. I’ll spend my lunch breaks in the café or going out to lunch with different people. Plus, my team knows that my door is always open for them, too.



What projects are you most excited about?

What I am most excited about at Pareto are the projects that bridge the gaps between emerging technologies and the delivery of health care services. It is fulfilling to play a role in bringing the two together to support our clients’ initiatives and ultimately improve the health and well-being of people.
