About the Role

Senior Data Engineers at Civis amplify the contributions of their colleagues by tackling our hardest, riskiest, or most complex technical projects. You will take ownership of medium to large features, help make technical design and architecture decisions, and mentor other engineers. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design and develop data intensive software, and work on big data processing frameworks.

We are looking for detail-oriented individuals from diverse backgrounds with demonstrated quantitative and problem-solving skills. Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or data-centric software development, including experience taking a leading role in significant technical projects
• Deep understanding of architectural requirements and technical decisions involved in building reliable, robust, scalable data products and pipelines
• Love for problem-solving and working with data
• An ability and eagerness to constantly learn and teach others

Preferred Qualifications

Significant experience with several of the following:

• Python, Ruby, Java and/or Scala
• Distributed relational and/or NoSQL databases
• Designing and building data-centric APIs
• Spark, Kafka or another distributed cluster computing framework
• Automated software testing and continuous integration
• Proficiency working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or another cloud provider
