The Senior Data Engineer will support a growing analytics team to service both an operational modernization program and a CSF strategy to leverage data to improve member health outcomes. The successful candidate will deeply understand the needs of the organization and determine how to best integrate + translate + model transactional data. The ideal candidate will be technically comfortable with shifting requirements, possess a curious and passionate analytical mindset, and be able to work with analysts and business leaders to assist in the creation of analytical models. The successful candidate is entrepreneurial at heart and open to building an entirely new set of capabilities for the organization.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Constantly develop a deeper understanding of available data
  • Work to understand multiple operational departments and how data is captured and used within the organization.
  • Build, manage, model, and optimize an analytics data mart that will enable analytics team to quickly provision reports for business users.
  • Provide recommendations on physical structure, query optimization and other performance techniques to ensure optimal performance of analytic dashboards and reports.
  • Build, maintain and support custom analytics pipelines.
  • Create and deliver metrics, analyze results using visualizations, and provide ongoing dashboards to monitor changes.
  • Work with a variety of functional business leaders to curate requirements and understand how they would like to view the data.
  • Ability to write high quality, maintainable, and reusable SQL code.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong understanding of SQL and ability to write and understand complex queries.  
  • Experience with Amazon Redshift, MPP Databases or other cloud warehouses.
  • Ability to understand business strategy, provide consultative business analysis, and leverage technical skills to create insightful, effective BI solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in a project-based environment with evolving requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, aggregate, analyze, and wrangle significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience or interest in working with Periscope Data a plus.

EDUCATION/BACKGROUND (R-Required, P-Preferred)

  • P – BS in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics or a Related Technical Field
  • R – 2+ years’ data warehousing or analytics experience
  • R – 2+ years’ data engineering experience
  • P -- 2+ years’ experience in health care industry
