Job Description:

  • The Sr. DBA will be responsible for providing day-to-day support and maintenance for key MongoDB databases for our platform across numerous environments (production, performance lab, training, development)
  • You must be proactive toward developing your own skill-set and increasing your level of technical expertise
  • You will be responsible for investigating potential problems and issues raised by business users; this includes being in the on--call rotation
  • You will monitor database events and proactively optimize system performance
  • You will work with the team to automate reactive procedures where possible, and to promote rapid response to known issues
  • You will design and develop database code as needed
  • You will work with other teams (engineering & QA) to deploy projects to test, staging, and production environments
  • You will review database structures and code to enforce standards and best practices to ensure optimal performance on the platform
  • You will be accountable for maintaining database configurations in compliance with established best practices
  • You will be accountable for proper backup and disaster recovery procedures
  • You will work in conjunction with other IT, application development, and business groups to understand functionality, scalability, performance, security, and integration requirements

Qualifications:

Required skills: 

  • Minimum of 8 years of database experience with experience supporting mission critical databases
  • Proficiency in MongoDB 
  • Experience and knowledge of MySQL or MS SQL Server "best practices"

 

Extra Plus Skills: 

  • Experience with Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) and Visual Studio 
  • Prior involvement in database deployment automation with TFS 
  • Good understanding of SSIS, Extended Events and Availability Groups
  • Full systems lifecycle experience (from requirements to delivery) of database projects
  • Familiarity with Oracle
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent learning aptitude and ability to use various research resources
  • Skilled in scripting and automating repetitive administrative tasks with PowerShell
  • Experience designing systems that comply with SOX & PCI 
  • Knowledge of fulfillment business and/or e-commerce processes
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to coordinate a wide range of assignments by managing dependencies, expectations, and effectively communicating with stakeholders
