Job Description
TITLE: Senior Manager Modeling
DUTIES: Discover Products, Inc., seeks Senior Manager Modeling in Riverwoods, IL, to manage a team of data scientists/modelers to provide predictive modeling and analytical solutions to Discover businesses, while adhering to enterprise compliance and governance standards. Direct and lead the team to develop models and data science solutions utilizing statistical, machine learning and other algorithms. Present results of mathematical modeling and data analysis to management or other end users. Motivate and mentor team of data scientists/modelers to grow their skills and careers, focusing on creating a nurturing environment, which encourages innovation and continual learning. Leverage extensive, deep technical knowledge and leadership skills to drive development of statistical, machine learning and other data science solutions and implement data-driven recommendations and outcomes. Act as a liaison among Decision Management, business technology teams, and other business partners in model-life cycle to escalate model time-to-market. Build relationships with business partners. Collaborate with business partners and technology team to implement the models and data science solution in production environment. Document and review the results of the modeling and data science solutions with internal and external independent governance teams. Allocate resources and prioritize projects. Ensure modeling projects are delivered in a timely manner. Maintain a high level of competency in statistical and analytical principles, tools and techniques, and support advancement of "best-in-class" analytical capabilities to unlock new capabilities and performance, and quickly adapt to modern modeling techniques. Demonstrate technical knowledge in analytical tools. Promote a risk-aware culture to ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Management Information Systems, Statistics, Information Technology, Analytics, or a related field, and six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in job offered or related position: utilizing statistical and machine learning algorithms to provide predictive modeling and analytical solutions to address quantitative business problems in the financial service industry; managing end-to-end model lifecycle including design, development, implementation and monitoring of statistical and machine learning models; acting as an analytical leader with expertise in statistical and machine learning algorithms; collaborating with business and technology teams to implement models; utilizing statistical programming languages, including SAS; working with databases, including SQL, and Teradata; documenting and reviewing modeling solutions with independent oversight teams; and performing model development at scale.
