JOB DESCRIPTION:

MDM Solution Architect will be part of the Data & Analytics architecture team responsible for developing Master Data Management (MDM) solutions, establishing related standards, designing integration strategy with other enterprise systems, and supporting overall digital platform architecture. As part of this responsibility, she/he will be responsible for working closely with business counterparts to develop strategy for Customer, Contact, Asset and other master data domains that will include establishing common data model, technical design and integration. The person needs to be able to adapt architecture solutions aligned with Caterpillar standards and guiding principles.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for building MDM architecture solutions for customer master, contact master, and other master related business domains
  • Lead/participate effort to identify and drive selection of integration and data management technologies using AWS-based services, Salesforce technologies and other third-party solutions
  • Be able to conduct architecture assessment to evaluate various options including Salesforce and AWS based solutions and provide recommendation
  • Lead/participate in proof-of-concepts with hands-on participation as well as supporting systems engineers assigned to the effort
  • Expected to keep up with emerging trends & technologies, new startups in master data, big data and analytics and keep abreast of latest related research
  • Mentor and coach architects to develop talent pipeline of information and integration architects
  • Initiate and deliver technology evaluation and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain current and planned state architecture blueprints.
  • Ensure projects maintain an enterprise-wide view to support adoption of standards and practices and promote reuse.
  • Assist in the development and alignment of the digital roadmaps with the digital and business strategy.
  • Support efforts to migrate legacy systems to enterprise data platforms
  • Be an evangelist to promote understanding and usage of enterprise solutions to build digital applications

 

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 12 years of IT job experience related to data architecture, data integration, and digital technologies
  • At least 7 years of experience as an Architect and at least 3 years designing & implementing Master Data and Meta data solution
  • At least 2 years experience working with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure or Salesforce
  • At least 3 years of Data and Application Integration including AWS and other integration technologies
  • Data modeling experience including non-relational data
  • Salesforce certification highly desired
  • Strong leadership skills to communicate and influence business and IT leaders
  • Keen self-interest in keeping up with emerging technologies and acquire practical knowledge on how to apply them for business use
  • Experience developing business use cases for executive review and approval
