Job Description

Purpose of Position: The position is for a strong database developer who is responsible for designing methods to store, analyze, utilize and organize data. The goal is to provide a seamless flow of information throughout the company, considering both backend data structure and frontend performance for end-users. This may include migration of data from old systems to new systems, implementing new data structures or managing data retention.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and be accountable for all aspects of the implementation which will include plan, design, construction, team coordination, and implementation activities using MS technologies, and database team standards (Stored procedures/Tables/Scripts, SSIS)
  • Work closely with the team to analyze and design data architecture; ETL processes, ERD modeling and physical database implementation with MS SQL
  • Work with the team to design, develop and roll out new application features that impact databases
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the data/ETL architecture and the general application functionality used to maintain data integrity
  • Work closely with team-members including IT managers to deliver defect-free solutions in a timely manner. Update work status on a frequent (as often as daily) basis
  • Work with IT Managers and Platform Architects to define process and policies for database application development methodologies and lifecycles
  • Work on multiple projects at a time either as a lead or team member
  • Work with developers and business owners to provide database needs for the entire FTD platform
  • Collaborate with the architects to establish platform standards when new technologies are introduced in the FTD platform
  • Continually investigate new technologies and their possible application to the company's business requirements
  • Create and assist in the development of application development processes, policies, and standards
  • Provide related development services to all the in-house and outsource projects
  • Plan with IT managers to develop and release the solutions to non-production environments
  • Lead technical meetings and planning as required
  • Develop a strong understanding of FTD business model and platform

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to use computer and keyboard for extended periods of time
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing

Work Environment:

  • Works in an office environment which may be in small, open, cubicle space

  • BS in computer science, engineering or similar technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience. MS/MBA is a plus
  • 6+ years of relevant experience designing and developing solutions following "best practices" within a large/complex environment
  • Expertise in NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra. 
  • Expert professional experience in logical and physical database design, development, analysis, architecture, and modeling
  • Outstanding experience in architecting multi-tier, distributed database applications
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team of engineers with a high level of attention to detail
  • Full systems lifecycle experience (from requirements to delivery) of database projects in e-commerce/supply-chain platform development
  • Advance SQL programming and performance tuning skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Startup-minded and thrive in a growing environment.
  • Proven ability to coordinate a wide range of assignments by managing dependencies, expectations, and effectively communicating with stakeholders
  • Author and implement solutions to complex business and technical problems
  • Agile process experience preferred
