Summary
This position is part of the Corporate Tax Department within Donnelley Financial Solutions, Inc., a publicly traded company headquartered in downtown Chicago. This position reports to the Domestic Tax Sr. Manager but is also expected to assist others within the Corporate Tax Department from time to time.
The Corporate Tax Department is responsible for all aspects of the “Tax Life Cycle.” Key tasks and responsibilities of the Corporate Tax Department include year-end & quarterly income tax provision under ASC 740, tax compliance, audit defense, tax planning projects, effective tax rate and cash tax forecasting, transfer pricing and M&A tax due diligence. The role offers an opportunity to be involved in all areas of U.S. federal and state tax along with exposure to certain international tax areas. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the following qualities:

Responsibilities
- Preparation of the quarterly and year-end income tax provision computations and assistance with documenting internal controls and drafting process memos
- Preparation of Federal, State, and local income tax returns (including Forms 5471 and 8858)
- Preparation of Federal, State and local estimated payments and extensions
- Compilation of State apportionment data
- Involvement in the fixed asset reconciliations
- Responding to tax notices from various State and local authorities
- Researching Federal and State tax issues and providing support on special projects, as needed
- Coordination, communication with the Corporate Controllers Group and other Corporate functions to provide tax guidance and gather information
- Participate in business process change initiatives
- Assistance with tax planning projects, tax modeling and tax rate forecasting
- Monitor and document tax law changes
- Develop and maintain strong ledger system and tax software knowledge
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting. CPA and/or MST is preferred
- 3-5 years of relevant experience at minimum. Public accounting is preferred. Outside of public accounting, large multi-national experience is preferred
- Experience with ASC 740 is required (additional experience with income tax controls under SOX Section 404 a plus)
- Experience with tax return preparation is required
- Experience conducting income tax and tax accounting research including the ability to evaluate technical tax and accounting literature and communicate requirements to team members is required
- Experience with OneSource tax provision and compliance software is a plus
- Experience with uncertain tax positions [FIN 48] is a plus
- Strong computer skills, especially Excel. Knowledge of SAP and BPC consolidation system is a plus.
