Description

Cat Digital currently has an opening for a Strategy Manager located in Chicago, IL.  As a Strategy Manager you will be responsible for providing leadership in the development, coordination, communication, and implementation of the strategy for Caterpillar. This role will be responsible for developing digital business strategies and ensuring results enable the growth of the P&L.  This role reports directly to the Strategy Director of Cat Digital. This role will also provide leadership s in support of strategy development and implementation and special projects. This will include project identification, portfolio management, project prioritization and project management.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrable problem solving and analysis skills, quickly generating hypotheses for problems and structuring analyses to support these hypotheses
  • Formulate business strategies and ensure they provide the greatest sustainable competitive advantage and shareholder return
  • Provide strategy development consulting and project management
  • Be an assertive team player who plays to win, with a demonstrated ability to lead a group to change with effective decision making
  • Rapidly frame complex business problems and develop a strategy for generating solutions, working across many parts of the organization to generate support
  • Explore acquisition opportunities to understand synergy with current and future business strategy
  • Research and gather market, competitive, and other information from multiple sources to consolidate into well-structured outputs
  • Help identify and evaluate inorganic and venture capital opportunities to deliver on strategy
  • Quantify scenarios or alternatives (costs, revenues, DCF, etc.) that inform strategic recommendations (e.g., market entry, investment opportunities, make vs. buy)
  • Provide strategy development thought-leadership and oversight for cross-division initiatives
  • Ensure appropriate communication strategies and audiences for all messaging related to strategy
  • Define appropriate implementation plans for overall strategy and key projects
  • Manage portfolio of strategic initiatives and associated governance process including cadence of updates related to milestones, roadblocks and successes

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Marketing or related field
  • 2 or more years of progressively responsible job-related experience in at least one of the following:  top-tier investment banking or management consulting, or corporate strategy

 

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • M.B.A from an accredited university
  • Previous exposure to technology, heavy machinery, manufacturing or similar industries.
  • Ability to present solutions for complex business issues to Senior Executives
  • Proven record of delivering quantifiable results
  • Previous experience managing diverse teams to deliver business results 
  • Leadership and networking skills and ability to build consensus
  • Previous experience developing and executing business strategy
  • Ability to quickly and concisely communicate key messages
  • Experience with strategy development and business acumen
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, mastery of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Microsoft and Google suites
  • Organized and detail oriented multi-tasker and project manager, able to think end-to-end, and meet deadlines with little supervision
