Job Purpose:
The Strategy Manager will play a critical role in the success of the Parts Pricing and Sales Variance Department driving key strategic initiatives and actions interdepartmentally within Global Aftermarket Services and across the enterprise. As a member of the department’s leadership team, this position will provide important and strategic input and facilitation and be a key enabler for the Department Head. This position is appointed to measure, analyze and improve strategically selected outcomes, experience and extended operating cash flow after capital charge for Caterpillar (OPACC-C) of pricing actions.
Responsibilities:
- Leading strategy development to improve results for department and division positively impacting Services growth targets.
- Managing and supervising staff responsible for project management, training, governance, communication and competitive intelligence (3 to 6 direct reports).
- Planning and directing all projects viewed as critical to department and the enterprise.
- Managing metrics, dashboards and supporting management tools in place to monitor performance of price actions and develop processes to prioritize price reviews.
- Prioritizing critical issues and required information to facilitate efficient decision-making.
- Organizing and facilitating leadership meetings, ensuring clear action items and timely follow-up.
- Planning and overseeing the competitive pricing intelligence processes.
- Managing, along with the Pricing leadership team and key business partners, profitable growth governance.
- Responsible the communication of major price plan with the sales, industry and key stakeholder groups.
- Evaluating all related factors impacting global price increase and managing the decision process.
- Coordinating and developing annual business plan, department expense budgets, results and rolling business management with Business Resources.
- Attending various executive/department meetings to keep a pulse on the business and help connecting the dots with others across the company
- Planning leadership events, off-sites, and strategic planning/accountability reviews
- Ensuring clear communication of objectives, expectations and manages accountability, assigning duties according to capability
- Working collaboratively with stakeholders in determining the structure, defining the approach and delivery of pricing training.
- Assisting in onboarding key team members
- Providing strategic guidance to Department Head, often leading (or co-leading) strategic initiatives that are outside of functional groups.
- Identifying improvement opportunities and enterprise-wide implementation of those improvements
- Responsible for driving internal and external communication that supports and accelerates impact of the department
- Employee may also be responsible for performing other job duties occasionally as assigned
- Exceptional networking skills, being accessible, responsive and focused on delivery and execution
- Effective champion for the aftermarket parts pricing, with demonstrated credibility in the organization, able to be persuasive and influence without authority
- Limited travel required (less than 30%).
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Requires bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
Ten years progressively responsible job-related experience, including project management and/or leadership, preferably with experience within pricing, aftermarket and dealer network
Prior supervisory experience

- Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
- Understanding of and credibility in the field of marketing
- Proven ability to diagnose and find innovative solutions to unique and complex problems on a regular basis
- Knowledge of competitors and industry pricing trends
- Maintains positive and can-do attitude and approach to work
- MBA or Master's degree
