Graphic Designer

FTD is in the midst of a total brand reinvention and we're hand-selecting a top-notch Graphic Designer to join our fun and energetic team in our Chicago Office. This person will be an integral part in helping us refine and express the brand with more emotion and style. Our goal is to create effective and authentic communications that resonate long-term with our audience, build brand loyalty as well as sell our products and meet business objectives.

This person should be very well versed in all things digital AND print as well as possessing an impeccable, high-end design sensibility. The Creative Director is looking for someone who can craft clutter-free layouts, beautiful typography and also lend art direction for absolutely stunning photography. Ideal candidates have the ability to thoughtfully organize content, tell a story and shape the tone and personality of all customer and florist facing communications.

We are looking for someone who goes above and beyond and can present gorgeous, intuitive options that are outside the box to help push the brand forward. Further, the Creative Director is looking for someone who will immerse themselves in the floral industry and understand how to improve the customer experience at every touchpoint with poignant communications that tell the FTD brand story.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Creative Director, Sr. Art Director and Sr. Copywriter to flesh out the look and feel of seasonal campaigns
  • Apply a campaign look and feel across all channels: website, email, display ads, social, catalogs, brochures, postcards, mailers, print ads, inspiration guides, etc.
  • Continually evolve brand style guides under the guidance of the Creative Director
  • Continually push for cleaner, simpler, more refined design
  • Assist in preparing presentations and creative reviews for internal clients, presenting with solid rationale
  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions and translate conceptual ideas into tangible creative work
  • Work with other designers to ensure a cohesive, effective workflow system
  • Be able to quickly and accurately complete fast-paced projects with extra attention to the details
  • Create press-quality and web-ready artwork
  • Be able to work within a project management tool, accurately tracking time and managing projects
  • Follow approval processes
  • Never miss a deadline

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of professional experience with a design agency or in-house creative department
  • Bachelor's degree in Art, Advertising, Graphic Design or equivalent
  • Solid digital design AND print experience as evidenced in your book
  • Exceptional typography, composition, color theory, and design skills
  • Software required: Adobe CC: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator
    • Up-to-date knowledge of the latest technologies, web standards and print production best practices
    • Great communication skills
    • High attention to detail from concept to completion
    • Very well organized
    • Experience balancing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
      • Ability to work on rapid development projects as well as longer-term projects
      • Ability to work through high-volumes of work with accuracy and thoughtfulness to the brand
      • Ability to problem-solve challenges and give recommendations for creative solutions
      • Collaborative in a well-rounded creative team as well as business partners
      • A strategic thinker with big picture ideas
        • Proactive in presenting and pitching ideas to internal clients and the Creative Director
        • Experience with building and maintaining a brand
        • Experience with eCommerce brands
        • Experience working with photographers is a plus
        • Experience with moving media, video or animations a plus
        • Excellent hand-sketching ability is a plus
        • High appreciation for flowers and all things beautiful
