Cartegraph is in the business of building high-performance government. Cities and Counties. Public Works and Parks. Water, Wastewater, and More.

The UX Designer (UXD) wears many different hats throughout the product lifecycle. The UXD is responsible for defining how Cartegraph products work, look, and feel. The UX Designer will also be responsible for conducting user research and understanding and aligning user behavior to design experiences that drive results.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

1. Work with a crack team that includes UX Designers, Developers, Testers, and Business Analysts to help change the world.
2. Design incredible software and UX that rivals the best software you’ve ever used.
3. Participate in the rapid prototyping of designs.
4. Work with Business Analysts to understand the business requirements supporting the user problem.
5. Work with Software Engineers to understand technical requirements and constraints.
6. Ensure that the product logically flows from one step to the next.
7. Conduct user tests to observe user behavior.
8. Define interaction models, user task flows, and UI specifications.
9. Communicate scenarios, end-to-end experiences, interaction models, and screen designs to stakeholders.
10. Maintain consistency in visual elements and behavior.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

• A belief in the power of design thinking.
• You have a 2-year degree in Design or equivalent experience.
• You’ve previously created beautiful visual or interactive designs you’re ready to show off (You have a stellar portfolio).
• You take pride and ownership in the software and user experiences you create.
• Proven success in turning complicated requirements into innovative designs.
• Excellent Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or Sketch (We work within Sketch primarily, but are willing to teach candidates with a strong grasp of design and other industry software).
• Some understanding of HTML and CSS desired, as you will collaborate with developers daily.
• Knowledge of prototyping tools (e.g. InVision, Principle, Framer) a plus.
• Experience with Zeplin, a plus.
• Ability to learn quickly and on a continuing basis.
• Self-motivated, self-starter personality.
• You're innovative, and don't settle for the status quo.
• Willingness and ability to travel to corporate headquarters periodically throughout the year to attend meetings and collaborative work.
