At Black Spectacles, we’re a purpose-driven company aimed squarely at educating and inspiring architects across the world so they can thrive in their careers.

Our platform attracts architects around the world who want to push the limits of their industry. Black Spectacles is Chicago-based with a fully remote staff. We are a BuiltIn Chicago Best Places to Work 2022 winner, and ranked #11 in Education on the INC. 5000 America’s Fastest Growing Company List in 2019. We’re on the hunt for a Curriculum Designer to help us create impactful and engaging learning experiences for our customers on their journey to becoming licensed architects. You’ll guide the direction of our learning content by planning, designing, and developing new learning experiences as we improve our ARE test prep content and build new products.

You will:

  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts, stakeholders, and other members of the Learning Team to craft compelling video-based learning content – including reviewing and refining scripts and storyboards.
  • Leverage learning theory and industry-standard best practices to update existing online course materials to meet learning objectives and ensure accuracy and engagement goals.
  • Identify areas for improvement and assist in the design, development, and delivery of new course content or learning features that meet the needs of our customers.
  • Maintain, evaluate, and support all instructional assets: quizzes, practice exams, flashcards, study guides, and our monthly ARE Live podcast.
  • Design and develop formative and summative assessments that accurately measure learners’ understanding of key concepts.

Key outcomes of the job:

  • Successfully deliver new ARE video lecture content on schedule
  • Increase pass rates with the development of new learning materials
