Design Director, Wealth Management Solutions
We're looking for a Design Director for our Wealth Management Solutions team.

In this role, you'll inspire, direct, and coach Product Designers, Marketing Designers, Content Strategists, and User Researchers to grow our advisor business while delivering the best work of their careers. You will expertly advance collaboration between disciplines, understanding of our core audiences, and solutions we bring to market. Responsibilities
We recognize that design skills are transferable from one subject to the next, and while working on financial products can be helpful, it's not required for this role. We value diverse backgrounds, experiences, and expertise. Our ideal candidate has experience simplifying complex workflows and content into intuitive experiences and solutions, inspiring software development teams, and delivering compelling software products to the market.

Primary Focus: Product, Service & Marketing Design
- Drive design best practices, standards, performance to elevate our entire team
- Oversee the strategic direction and design approach for bringing our products, services, and support materials to market
- Ensure the team proactively pursues an understanding of our customers, their needs, and translates that understanding into design strategy and solutions
- Lead and/or provide direction to other designers on conducting generative and evaluative research
Leadership
- Assist other product leaders in establishing the scope of projects and initiatives, clarify how decisions impact business goals and guide the team to execute design direction
- Set the environment for collaboration internally and externally by coordinating others' cooperation through presentations and ensuring the team has clarity on processes, tools, etc.
- Frequently work with functional peer group managers (Tech Leads, Product Owners) to guide cooperation, a shared understanding of priorities, and project direction
- Guide the team in making connections between personal growth goals and business goals
Scale & Enablement
- Oversee the strategic direction, application, and advancement of design standards by leveraging and contributing to Morningstar's Design System
- Contribute to the development of design playbooks, toolkits, and templates that enable Wealth Management designers to collaborate with stakeholders more effectively and bring high-quality products to market quickly
- Identify needs and gaps with regards to tools, documentation, and resources with Wealth Management Solutions design team
Design Community & Culture
- Work with counterparts in Talent & Culture, Product, Marketing, and Engineering and Design Leadership to coordinate strategy, planning and operations to define, maintain, and support the complete end-to-end designer experience-from recruitment through all steps in career progression
- Ensure all stakeholders understand when, where, and how to best engage designers in the software development lifecycle
- Monitor design health metrics at both the functional organizational level and business unit level; work with Talent & Culture and design management to analyze, synthesize and communicate accomplishments, opportunities, and problems to appropriate stakeholders
- Ensure recognition and success stories are shared across the organization
Qualifications
- 10 to 15 years' experience in designing digital user experiences
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Digital Design, Communication Arts, Human Computer Interaction, Industrial Engineering/Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
