POSITION OVERVIEW

One North is seeking a Design Director to spearhead a team of multidisciplinary designers for a large technology & social media company, where you will work on a wide variety of projects, including brand design, visual design, interactive design, motion/video, and more.

In this role, you will serve as the creative lead on all projects for Facebook and its endorsed brands (e.g., Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus, etc.) and work with other cross-functional leaders within our business to expand our presence within this organization. This role with be a mix of hands-on design as well as oversight.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the creative process on projects from concept to delivery, with targeted oversight from a Creative Director.

• Mentor and lead junior and senior designers.

• Create diverse and strategic brand and digital concepts.

• Become fluent in the Facebook brand standards and ensure all our work is on-brand for each respective group.

• Participate in working sessions with clients and present original work.

• Work closely with the Digital Strategy, UX, Content, and Technology teams to translate their deliverables (e.g., research outcomes, brand platforms, wireframes, etc.) into beautiful designs.

• Work closely with other discipline leads to ensure we are delivering design excellence to the client.

• Work closely with Client Services and PM to plan project deliverables and the client approach.

• Work with PMs and Traffic Manager to ensure proper resourcing allocation for designers.

• Work closely with Client Partners to strategically expand our presence within Facebook.

• Maintain West Coast working hours.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• BFA in Graphic Design preferred, but not required

• At least 5 years as a designer/senior designer in a collaborative, fast-paced environment (preferably at an agency or product company)

• A strong portfolio demonstrating innovative design work

• Expert understanding of design fundamentals and best practices for digital designs

• Expert understanding of design tools, including Adobe Creative Suite and, Figma

• Familiarity with Webflow, Framer, Principle, Origami, or other prototyping tools a plus

• Experience collaborating with UX designers, content strategists, and copywriters.

• Strong written and oral communication skills, particularly in front of clients

• Experience providing art direction and leading projects

• Ability to be flexible and adaptive to changing priorities

• Ability to manage multiple projects ranging in size and scope simultaneously

• Interest and experience in management and/or mentorship of designers
