Job Summary
The Design Researcher plans and conducts generative and evaluative research to inform the design of omnichannel user experiences. They will support the end-to-end research process including planning, implementation, analysis and the delivery of results. The Design Researcher employs a mix of qualitative research methodologies to translate user needs and behaviors into actionable insights and recommendations.
In partnership with Service and User Experience Designers, the Design Researcher identifies opportunities to positively impact how customers and employees experience Walgreens across omnichannel touchpoints.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conducts generative and evaluative design research studies utilizing a range of methods, including observation/ethnography, diary studies, interviews, usability testing, card sorting, surveys, etc.
  • Oversees the entire research process including planning, recruitment, implementation, analysis and reporting.
  • Develops research deliverables such as participant screeners, discussion guides, user journeys and research presentations.
  • Translates user behaviors and research findings into actionable insights and recommendations to improve the experience across omnichannel touchpoints (e.g., website, app, kiosk, in-store, etc.).
  • Collaborates with the Service and User Experience Design teams, as well as stakeholders across lines of business, to facilitate engagement in research activities and promote adoption of research insights.
  • Identifies knowledge gaps and resulting strategic opportunities for continued research and understanding.
  • Contributes to the development and ongoing evolution of research approaches, methods and timelines.
  • Assists in managing in-person and remote research lab operations.
  • Contributes to the ongoing documentation of research reports and insights within shared team archives.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 1 year of experience designing and/or analyzing qualitative user research data OR a High School Diploma / GED and at least 3 years of experience designing and/or analyzing qualitative user research data.
  • Knowledge of the digital space.
  • Experience building relationships with internal/external partners
  • Experience working collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to facilitate improvement of results and find solutions.
  • Experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
  • Experience adapting to changes related to project needs and scope.
  • Experience utilizing critical thinking, analysis, and creative problem-solving skills.
