Summary

The Director of UX & Marketing Creative has an “eye for detail” and is integral in creating the visual representation of the brand and in developing the digital customer experience (across all brands and channels) for both internal and external audiences. As the customer experience steward, you are responsible for enforcing the brand style guides and implementing an authentic customer experience that is constantly improving through science (user metrics and behaviors) and art (creative ways to overcome obstacles to purchase). Your focus will be on leading the visual brand development, applying the brand style consistently in all digital and print materials, and guiding our digital experience with sound user experience design principles. As a creative leader, you will own our (visual) brand evolution and development; work with our digital agency to implement effective ad campaigns designed by you; and provide creative pieces and elements that will reach our audiences via the websites, social, blogs, etc., while adhering to art and user design standards for production, quality, and brand alignment.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions of the Director of UX & Marketing Creative

I. UX/UI Designer: You’re the design mastermind behind our digital user experience—and will work to improve customer conversion through implementation of solid design.

  • Iterate on concepts to make the brand relevant and relatable to our audiences; and set user experience design requirements for our suite of digital assets
  • Provide advice and guidance on the implementation of UX research methodologies and testing activities; and develop and conceptualize a comprehensive UI/UX design strategy for the brand
  • Find creative ways to solve UX problems (e.g. usability, findability); and engage in continuous improvement using user experience tools, customer feedback, etc. towards analyzing and predicting user behavior
  • Drive product design process from research, high level user journeys, concepts, wireframes, and prototypes all the way to excellent visual execution
  • Testing UI elements such as CTAs, banners, page layouts, page designs, page flows, and target links for landing pages
  • Liaise with the marketing team, as well as web development and SEM vendors, to implement/enforce style guides in all digital elements and experiences; and produce pixel-perfect and low-fidelity concepts and prototypes
  • Utilize techniques like affinity mapping and persona building, and the creation of user flows and task flows

II. Marketing Creative Designer: Be an advocate for consistent and cohesive design throughout the company and support our graphic design needs and digital design projects, while adhering to art and design standards for production, productivity, quality, and brand alignment.

Support the development of our style guides as a visual extension of our brands (illustrations, icons, colors, typography, etc.); and curate and maintain the brand ecosystem and asset library

  • Create, maintain, and log the graphic elements and design layouts for landing pages and emails, including icon and button design
  • Design and develop various creative assets aligned with our brands’ design guidelines – including but not limited to digital and print advertising, social media and interactive creative, web pages, flyers, brochures, email campaigns, swag, etc.
  • Collaborate with marketing and creative teammates across several brands to develop roadmaps and deliver high-quality work on time and on budget
  • Obtain approvals by presenting layouts, graphics, mock-ups, and final designs, encouraging members to provide feedback, and respond to internal commentary and requests
  • Present final concepts and help coordinate distribution and dissemination
  • Translate concepts into visual elements such as illustrations, photographs, or videos that will effectively communicate the intended message
  • Collaborating with the marketing team and external SEM vendors to ensure the brand is visually represented well

Education & Experience

The Director of UX & Marketing Creative must have:

  • 5-7 years of user experience design and marketing creative support (both needed)
  • Degree in design (fine art, graphic, user experience) or other relevant university discipline preferred; and a strong understanding of user experience design principles
  • Working knowledge of design and customer journey mapping tools (Figma, InVision, HTML, CSS (SCSS), Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
  •  xperience coordinating work with internal team members and outside vendors preferred
  • Deep understanding of brand, marketing, and best design principles; exceptional capability with the development of brand experiences (layout and web design, typography, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of how to achieve business goals with great design, while maintaining accessibility standards
  • Proven ability to independently conceptualize and think critically about design
