Instructional Designer, Engagement Services
The Group:
Morningstar’s products transform our high-quality data, independent research, and technological expertise into well-designed tools that delight our clients. The product management, product development, and service teams collaborate with our Customer Success group to help provide clients with relevant products and bundled solutions.
The Role:
We’re seeking an Instructional Designer to build training programs to serve large cohorts of Morningstar’s Advisor Workstation end-users and/or programs that can be easily tailored on a client-by-client basis. These programs may be delivered via exercise guides, user manuals, e-Learning, webinars, in-person instruction, and release notes. Morningstar’s Instructional Designers are experts in both the concepts and execution of instructional design using contemporary tools and techniques to deliver efficient, effective, and enjoyable education programs. Although they are expected to have basic product, investment, and technical knowledge, they also have access to subject-matter experts (SMEs) to help build out detailed education content and are masters at managing relationships with those SMEs.
Instructional Designers on our Customer Engagement team drive Morningstar’s initiative of providing content and technology to empower clients to derive value from our products without contacting us through traditional support channels. Resources include the Morningstar Community, self-paced certification, and in-product, on-screen assistance via WalkMe.
Responsibilities:
Designing, implementing, and managing ongoing programs to deliver virtual, in-product, interactive, and instructor-led training solutions.
Creating documentation per department standards and style to communicate workflows and product updates alike.
Leading group training sessions designed to deliver high impact learning in a group environment.
Collaborating with, and coordinating, subject matter experts to ensure accurate and appropriate content within the training solutions.
Staying abreast of developments and innovations in instructional design and education technology, as well as the financial services industry.
Understanding client concerns and usage issues to identify and prioritize training program development.
Designing and executing performance support collateral to increase the adoption of self-service support.
Travel up to 33%, when traveling resumes.
Qualifications:
Consistently takes a proactive and creative communication approach for new concepts and products.
Adept at assessing training needs and implementing required coursework within a deadline-oriented environment.
Experience developing training programs from "needs analysis" to "deliverable" stage.
Ability to identify new training needs within rapidly changing environment.
Skilled at managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Performs well within a team environment.
Ability to present and write effectively.
Demonstrates outstanding organizational and communication skills.
Working knowledge of the financial services industry, experience within the industry is a plus.
Knowledge of Information MappingTM is a plus
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Instructional Design (or related program) and/or CPLP certification is a plus.
