The Department: Customer Insights

As a company, we are building a culture of customer obsession and Customer Insights the cornerstone. User experience is foundational to how we create intuitive and innovative products and experiences that delight our customers. We used mixed methods research to understand our customers’ needs, behaviors, and emotions to gather insights that inform product strategy, design, and improvements. We evangelize the customer experience and make insights usable across the company. 

The Role: Lead UX Researcher - Mixed Methods

UX Researchers are fierce advocates for the people who use our products and the members of their teams. In this position, you’ll build a team of researchers to leverage the best approaches from UX research, analytics, and other customer feedback mechanisms to provide a systematic approach to evaluating the Gemini customer experience.  You’re an expert at using research methods such as in-depth interviews, diary studies, usability tests, and surveys to shape product development and influence overall strategy. As a qualified candidate, you have experience delivering high-quality research with measurable business value and articulating the integral role of research to the business. You’ll collaborate with leaders of Design, Engineering, Product Management, and Customer Service teams to create innovative experiences across all of Gemini’s products, leveraging your passion for brand, craft, and design quality. 

This role reports to Gemini’s Customer Insights Director.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate and partner with Product, Design, and Engineering execution teams to understand objectives, identify research questions, and build research agendas
  • Scope, design, and execute generative and evaluative research using appropriate qualitative and quantitative research methods, such as in depth interviews, diary studies, surveys, concept tests, usability tests, tree testing, and A/B tests
  • Communicate customer experience findings and suggested actions to address problem areas with stakeholders at all levels of the company
  • Lead and represent the UX Research team through strong cross-functional relationships  and advocate for the user through empirical research
  • Propose and build mechanisms for evaluating and measuring the Gemini customer experience
  • Work closely with the Customer Insights Director to communicate and evangelize the value of user research to the business and product

Basic Qualifications

  • BA and/or Masters in Human-Computer Interaction, Behavioral Economics, Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8-10 years of relevant work experience within User Experience, HCI, applied research setting, and/or product research and development
  • Deep knowledge and applied experience with research, the relative merits of different methods and when to apply them
  • Experience with consumer products and or fintech products
  • Experience directly conducting primary research (either qualitative or quantitative) end-to-end (i.e., designing, fielding, analyzing and reporting out data)
  • Experience building and setting research strategy that connects with business strategy
  • Ability to think through big complex problems and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment

Salary Range: In compliance with the New York City Pay Transparency Law, the base salary range for this role is between $137,000 - $192,000 in New York City. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
