An Insider's view of Nerdery

What’s the vibe like in the office?

What I appreciate the most is the solution-focused attitude. Projects inherently have risk and problems will happen. When they do, there is no energy wasted on assigning blame. Everyone involved, from president to engineer, asks 'how can we solve this?' and 'how can we learn from it?' We solve it and move forward as a whole.

What projects are you most excited about?

I'm excited to be embedded within large clients. The Nerdery is a driving force for change and it's cool to be at the forefront of that. We're responsible for bringing a client's code and development practices up to date with modern standards. It's not always fast or easy, but is rewarding.

How does the company support your career growth?

I've been able to stretch my learning muscles on a variety of interesting projects centered around my discipline. The folks on other teams are also excited to talk to about the work that they are doing. Personal growth appears in many forms. Continued success through specialized focus and discussions of polyglot natures are both supported here.

How do you empower your team to be more creative?

I feel that my job is to hire really talented people and then get the heck out of their way. At The Nerdery we are always encouraging our teams to build on their curiosity through office projects, meetups, training and more. My role in this is to be the advocate for our Nerds in supporting this growth.
