We are looking for a Senior Front-End Developer to bridge the gap between designers and technology. You’ll be an integral part of our Creative Services team in our downtown office, developing world-class ecommerce sites for our B2B and B2C customers. At VSG Commerce, a Senior Front-End Developer collaborates with UX Leads, UI Leads, and Backend Developers to develop front-end assets (HTML, CSS, JS).

Strong communication and teamwork skills are vital to effectively work though problems with team members – providing feedback for potential technical and usability issues.

As a Senior Front-End Developer, you are responsible for driving, delivering, and maintaining coding standards across the team, distributing tasks to the junior level developers and working with leadership on improving processes.

Coding Standards

While we appreciate creative solutions to a problem, we promote the use of clean code based on industry and company standards. The testability, maintainability, and reusability of code across projects is crucial in delivering world-class products to our clients. 

Responsibilities

 • Deliver high quality front-end code based on Wireframes and Prototypes

• Drive and maintain coding standards across the team

• Mentor junior level developers and check the quality of their work

• Collaborate with backend developers

• Champion new ideas and efficiencies

• keeping up to date on new tools, trends and workflows.

Experience and Qualifications

• 5+ years of web development experience.

• Experience developing mobile-friendly, responsive websites

• Understanding of browser and device compatibility

• Experience developing / architecting web applications.

• The ability to recognize and reuse existing coding patterns to maintain consistency across projects

• Proficient in JQuery, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, LESS, SASS, XML.

• Good understanding of object oriented design.

• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git and BitBucket.

• Strong understanding of industry standards (W3c) and best practices

• Front-End Framework Experience - Bootstrap.js and another modern JavaScript frameworks

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Good Creative Aptitude

• Good understanding of Agile Methodology.

• Experience with WCAG standards

• Experience developing front-end assets for Oracle and/or SiteCore platforms

• Experience with Prototyping Software e.g. Invision, Sketch or Adobe Products
