As a UX Visual Designer, you are a pragmatic visionary that can translate user needs into delightful, seamless, end to end experiences for all of our SMS customers. You’re able to craft experiences for any channel and platform and help lead the definition and creation of innovative design solutions that address customer needs and marry them with business goals. The ideal candidate for this position is both creative and analytical and is able to work extremely effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

The UX Visual Designer will be expected to participate in these areas of UX discipline:
• User Research
• Interaction Design – Mockups and prototypes
• Design System – UI components and patterns

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Ability to create elegant, smart, and intuitive designs for web, desktop, and mobile applications
  • Work with a team of UXers to deliver innovative, delightful user experiences that meets stakeholder expectations
  • Lead, train & mentor junior designers
  • Establish and maintain user centric design best practices
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of our design system, pattern libraries and style guides
  • Work with product leaders to ensure that we are leveraging our UX expertise properly within our product teams to design and develop solutions for internal and external customers
  • Develop presentations, storyboards, and client feedback mechanisms to communicate design process
  • Work closely and often with stakeholders, clients and IT
  • Use design thinking methodologies to empathize, learn, ideate, challenge stakeholders and UX peers, ideate and iterate
  • Oversee relevant research to motivate design decisions and inform product roadmap
  • Collaborate across functional groups and across design teams early and often  
  • Manage design deliverables with Agile project management techniques
  • Provide quality assurance of UX deliverables
  • Lead internal brainstorms, ideation, and design thinking workshops  

 

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial, etc.), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS) or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5-10 years of experience creating iterative design, working closely with customers and peers and developers from inception through implementation
  • Experience designing and shipping software design experiences
  • Working knowledge of usability principles and techniques
  • Experience collaborating with Product Management and Engineering counterparts
  • Travel Expected: up to 0-25% of the time

 

 

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Expert with design tools (e.g. Sketch, InVision, Photoshop, Illustrator) to produce user interfaces, prototypes and storyboards
  • Ability to storytell and frame problems for a diverse audience of stakeholders, helping them envision potential design opportunities
  • Drive the design review cycle and gather on design requirements independently
  • Contribute to UX vision and strategy
  • Raise the bar for product quality by advocating for user centered product roadmaps
  • Experience managing or leading design teams
  • Working with team members across time zones
  • Ability to create lightweight prototypes to test ideas
