So, what’s the role?

We are looking for a Senior Design Researcher to be a part of our growing design team to help shape and design various research studies, execute a variety of appropriate research methods, analyze results, offer insights and drive solutions for complex problems under minimal guidance of the team lead. As a Design Researcher, you'll be involved in a wide range of activities, from conducting customer research and collaborating with other designers, product managers, engineers,  marketing and data scientists.

A day in the life could include: 

  • Think holistically and strategically about business problems and dive into detail at the tactical level
  • Work cross-functionally with stakeholders in business, product, marketing and engineering to understand business goals and customer needs
  • Design, plan and execute end-to-end primary research using a wide variety of methods
  • Use an evidence based approach that leverages data and product analytics to make design recommendations
  • Facilitate and moderate design research interviews and usability testing sessions
  • Lead and conduct simple quantitative analysis and synthesis of data sets
  • Clearly and effectively present ideas, research plans, findings, and other deliverables to leadership
  • Mentor and train team members in the development and practice of user experience research techniques, processes and methods
  • Work with marketing and content partner to ensure tone and voice in the experience is consistent with research
  • Conduct research and usability testing to validate product designs and inform design decisions
  • Collaborate with marketing on surveys, interviews and metrics
  • Advise the business on Customer Journey touchpoints based on aggregated research
  • Additionally, your role will help define future state objectives that drive the business forward and continuously expand our reach into more areas of our customers lives

I’ve got the skills… but do I have the necessary ones?

  • Bachelor's degree in ethnography, psychology, research, cognitive science or equivalent work experience
  • Experience working in a test and learn hypothesis-driven product environment preferred
  • Extreme attention to detail with a focus on efficiency
  • You are a highly effective communicator and influencer who can act as the customer advocate
  • Possesses a solid understanding of both primary and secondary research methods and practices.
  • Familiar with both qualitative and quantitative methods for analyzing data
  • Empathy for customers and passion for helping them solve difficult problems
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Learning mindset and willingness to absorb lots of new information and context
  • Self-starter personality who’s lean and eager to take action
  • Extremely collaborative work style thriving in a dynamic team environment
  • Facilitation and collaboration skills aimed at aligning cross functional peers
  • Proven ability to clearly communicate research findings and opportunities to team members and clients in live presentations
  • Portfolio of your work highlighting your research process and examples of journey maps, surveys, interview guides and research reports
