The Senior Voice User Interface (VUI) Designer role will help lead our team in creating tools that teach, support, and remind people about ways to take action on their health. Clients (mainly hospitals and insurance companies) come to our team to communicate clear, health-related conversations with their patients at scale, using a technology platform that offers personalized, interactive experiences.
We are searching for a Senior VUI Designer, to be located in Chicago, IL.

Senior VUI Designers collaborate with developers, clients, quality assurance teams, and others depending on project needs. Though our core capacity is interactive voice response (IVR) technology, we also incorporate other modalities (text messages, interactive video) to enhance the patient experience.

Strong Senior VUI Designers will ideally have experience designing voice experiences for healthcare applications, but can emerge from many different backgrounds, like writing/journalism, anthropology, applied psychology, teaching, and playwriting. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Map out call flows for IVR applications geared toward various populations and needs
• Write clear, engaging, conversational scripts that reflect the brand voice
• Integrate IVR applications with other interactive products, like text messaging or interactive video campaigns for a holistic user experience
• Consult with and guide healthcare clients to convert their goals into a user-friendly communication strategy
• Direct voice talent to obtain high-quality recordings appropriate for the products
• Collaborate with developers in the implementation of these designs
• Assess success of communications, and both lead and participate in conversations around improving product effectiveness
• Lead and participate in discussions around new products and their interactive components
• Stay current with industry best practices; advance internal design guidelines
• Explore and leverage other technology to augment our communication goals
• Mentor and train junior designers
• Lead voice-related projects involving cross-functional teams
• Present internally and externally on voice design products and methodology
• Assumes other duties as assigned 

Qualifications:JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education
• BA/BS degree in a field related to writing, communications, psychology, anthropology or computer science or equivalent industry experience

Experience: 
• 2-5 years of experience designing IVR systems, or other interactive/conversational interface strongly preferred
• Experience in Healthcare IT industry desirable

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications: 
• Excellent time management, decision making, and organization skills 
• Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills
• Demonstrated aptitude for logical thinking and processing
• Ability to manage projects involving cross-functional teams
• Experience working with a development team is preferred
