User Research Lead
User Research Lead
LogicGate is a venture-backed, Chicago-based technology company that needs YOU to help us as we continue to disrupt the wide world of GRC (governance, risk, and compliance). At LogicGate, you'll join a group of bright, welcoming people ready to learn, grow, and do the right thing for our customers.
LogicGate is looking for an experienced User Research Lead that can be a vocal advocate for our users and play a key role in maturing our qualitative practices. You will be responsible for instilling new methodologies around research and creating/tracking metrics around usability and the user experience of the product. As the first user research hire, you will shape what the user research function is from the ground up. You will be joining the Design & Research team, reporting directly to the Director of Design & Research. Your day-to-day will vary, working closely alongside Designers and PMs, but also cross-functionally across the org, and of course, with our users.
We currently use a mix of data, user research, strategic planning, and empathy to guide us and bring our users needs to the forefront of how we design the product experience. We continue to bolster these practices, but as the company quickly scales there is a growing need to better understand who our users are, their diverse goals and needs, and understand how we can better serve them.
Who you are
The ideal candidate is someone that gets excited by the prospect of solving new and difficult challenges. You are a strong communicator and love digging into the details to better understand the user's needs. You are able to focus on the greater goal, but able to look for smaller opportunities and quick wins that come from your work. Your work will not only inform the features that we ship, but how we think about the product strategically and sharing that across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Establish scalable research guidelines, best practices, and processes that allow product development teams to conduct actionable research quickly and effectively.
- Conduct, analyze, synthesize, and articulate research outcomes in a creative, actionable, and effective way for stakeholders across the company.
- Effectively and transparently manage the work coming from multiple stakeholder interests, priorities, and expectations.
- Advocating and recommending the best methods to answer research questions and prioritize them according to schedule and constraints.
- Maturing the user research program we currently have in-place and continue to scale that group of users and their engagement with the program.
- Actively monitor and analyze research, data, and trends from internal sources, academic institutions, and industry reports to inform and improve our product.
- Identify opportunities for research outside of the typical feature discovery work such as side initiatives and innovation projects.
Requirements
- 4+ years of qualitative, user-focused research experience, preferably at a B2B startup or software company.
- A strong self-starter, multi-tasker, prioritizer, with the ability to manage your time effectively.
- Have a desire and passion for managing and mentoring researchers.
- A strong facilitator of meetings, group discussions, and workshops.
- Clear, compelling presentation and communication style that is shaped by your audience, whether in-person or remote.
- Good experience with either starting a research function in-house or being part of a more mature research function in-house.
- Good experience using a wide variety of research methodologies applied across an agile product development process.
- Good experience collaborating closely with other researchers, designers, product managers, and engineers.
- Excited and comfortable with ambiguity, exploration, and iteration in an agile environment.
- Some experience using FullStory or similar screen recording software to help analyze and monitor the user experience over time.
