Job Description As Global Technology's official design system, Tuxedo serves a wide range of designers and developers building digital products and experiences. The goals of the design system include improving UI consistency and quality, making the design and development process more efficient and focused, establishing a shared vocabulary between designer and developer, and providing clear, discoverable guidance around design and development best practices.
Our Tuxedo team oversees the design system for the Global Technology organization. Your primary focus will be on designing components, writing documentation, advocating for the system, collaborating with designers and developers on creation and adoption, and governing the system. The primary goal of the role is to enable other designers and developers to be successful by focusing their efforts on product-level problems so that they can ship high-quality work efficiently and consistently.
What Responsibilities includes but not limited to:

  • Create foundational UI components, patterns, tools and documentation that enables a strategic design vision that allows design teams to scale and deliver quality user experiences that enable consistency in design deliveries.
  • Partner with designers, developers, and product owners to apply and evolve our design system components and patterns.
  • Present and communicate work and recommendations to the larger design organization.
  • Document and help maintain usage guidelines and specs for components and patterns within the system.
  • Ensure final mockups are pixel perfect before development handoff.
  • Work collaboratively and contribute to the success of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Be constantly on the lookout for best practices, design patterns and anti-patterns, throughout various industries and platforms.
  • Be a key player on a small but mighty team making a huge impact.


This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
We're looking for a proven designer that is either familiar with or has supported design systems in the past. You're a self-starting designer who actively looks for ways to substantially improve our design system. You have naturally good taste and are confident in your craft.
Candidates must have:

  • A strong portfolio of work emphasizing depth of experience with graphic and information design for interactive products/sites.
  • General knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks such as Angular or React.
  • Minimum of two years' experience working in a professional capacity as a visual designer on highly interactive and data rich applications.


Candidates should have the following qualifications and experiences:

  • 3-5 years of professional web UX and UI experience in a design team environment. Bonus if you have experience contributing to design systems including component design, documentation, and education.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Design with emphasis in one or more of the following: Digital Design, Communication Design, Information Design, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Motion Design.
  • Enjoy design challenges including those involving complex information, data visualizations, and interactivity
  • Ability to work with front-end engineer teams and participate in design and code reviews.
  • Confident advocating and presenting your ideas effectively, to a variety of audiences.
  • Understanding of Universal Design Principles, particularly in regards to accessible design.
  • Proficiency and experience with design tools such as Figma.
  • Understanding of Agile and Scrum principles.
  • You have the desire to push the platform forward and improve, always advocating for the end-user
  • Thinks in terms of design systems and makes rational and logical design decisions
  • Above all, you're an advocate for consistency with enough flexibility to accommodate criticism and change.
