ABOUT THE POSITION (Remote)

As the eComm Sr. UX/UI Designer, you’ll be the principal designer for Inventables.com. You’ll have the autonomy to create inspiring experiences that motivate customers to use our design & manufacturing ecosystem to generate income. The position will work closely with the Product, Marketing, and eCommerce engineering teams to create designs and user interface elements, conduct user research, define priorities, and test functionality. You’ll ensure that designs are consistent with ecommerce best practices and positively impact conversion.

Through your work you will help others discover an easy and affordable way to create products and bring manufacturing capabilities into the hands of millions of people. 

Here’s what you’ll be doing

  • Designing wireframes, prototypes, sketches, and high-fidelity visuals for internal and external use

  • Assisting with with story mapping, priority definition and refinement that provide innovative and intuitive product designs and user interactions

  • Creating user-focused designs informed by the user research and testing you help plan and lead.

  • Collaborating with our other designer (focused on Easel), product marketing, product managers, and software engineering

  • Advocating for user-centric design practices and design excellence and usability in all aspects of the online experience

  • Establishing and evolving style guidelines to ensure a consistent user experience

  • Leveraging best in class ecommerce tools, find new ways to streamline complex processes and help users accomplish their goals

  • Proactively recognize UX/UI problems and propose solutions

  • Fulfill a variety of marketing graphic design requests (e.g. email templates, infographics, print materials, etc.)

  • Communicate product updates with UI/UX components to leadership and the entire company

  • Actively seek ways to make the Inventables experience visually appealing and easy to use.

You need these qualifications

  • Experience measuring and testing your designs against business metrics and analyzing user experience flows for improved sales and customer experience

  • Experience as a designer in an individual contributor role for ecommerce desktop, mobile, or web applications 

  • Experience in creating wireframes, user flows, and customer journeys

  • Ability to prototype and test your ideas

  • Proficient understanding of graphic design, layout, typography and icons 

  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Photoshop, InVision

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment

  • Capable of designing responsively with a good understanding and focus on mobile designs.

  • Experience using user data to drive design decisions, including conversion rate optimization

  • An understanding of how to work through the user interview/testing process.

  • Ability to talk through designs and explain the reasoning behind the decisions made.

  • A portfolio to showcase your past work 

  • Bachelor’s Degree  

It would be nice if you have...

  • Experience with the maker movement or actively part of the maker community (Highly preferred)

  • A personal love of what we’re building

  • Experience working in an agile environment

  • An understanding of prototyping methodologies and practices

  • Familiarity with user metrics and analytics 

  • Knowledge around the basics of development and the ability to help identify technical limitations 

  • Experience with digital manufacturing
