The Role 

Green Thumb is looking for a talented, creative, and ready to act Visual Merchandiser to support our growing cannabis retail business nationally to ensure that our patients and customers have an excellent and consistent in-store experience. As a Visual Merchandiser with Green Thumb, you will partner with store design, retail leadership, and the brand marketing teams to develop our visual merchandise standards as we expand our fleet and remodel existing locations, and ensure that the store leadership is trained on design concepts, visual display standards, and proper continued maintenance of merchandising efforts. As we continue to rapidly expand we are looking for candidates with hustle, an ability to take direction, and a drive to take ownership of this newly created role.

Responsibilities 

  • Partners with Store Designer, Brand team, and Retail Marketing to establish retail tools and product placement that is reflective of trend, reinforces brand messaging, and inspires the customer
  • Works closely with the Store Design Manager, Brand Team, and Retail Marketing to make sure all displays and merchandising are having a positive effect on sales and customer experience in order to maximize profitability.
  • Partners with Brand Leader and inventory planning to establish systems that protect stock levels and uphold presentation standards
  • Responsible for the coordination of design, order management, procurement and distribution of display collateral, visual merchandising props and auxiliary retail display units.
  • Has a strong understanding of trend and style that is reflective of the brand and core customer
  • Serves as a visionary; oversees the execution of all retail display presentation inclusive of merchandising and display execution
  • Works with the store team to assess, apply inspiration and execute retail displays creatively
  • Facilitates the display process through idea generation and execution of inspiration
  • Partners with the Market Retail Leaders to ensure appropriate support and effective scheduling for visual priorities
  • Plans and executes meetings and workshops for store staff that are collaborative, educational and motivational; ensures that display coaching and counseling at the store level is consistent and timely
  • Provides insight to store design team in relationship to merchandising, display and fixture needs;
  • Builds and maintains productive partnerships with millwork and fixture vendors
  • Attends prototype review sessions, store openings, meetings and display workshops where applicable
  • Cultivates an environment of creativity to engage the customer
  • Understands store specific distinctions to guide and tailor the experience according to market and region

Qualifications  

  • 4-7 years of retail visual merchandising experience.
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Demonstrated visual design skills with a strong retail merchandising portfolio
  • Demonstrated experience in field visual merchandising; window displays, signage, interior displays and space utilization
  • Strong Microsoft Suite experience required including word and excel
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, InDesign or Illustraor skills are preferred but not essential. Ability to review millwork shop drawings a plus. 
  • Creative and innovative in their approach and ability to execute with a strong eye for design
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness 
  • Adapts and thrives in a demanding, fast-paced environment 
  • Possesses a high level of critical thinking 
  • Operates with a high level of professionalism and integrity, including dealing with confidential information 
  • Must understand and comply with the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of Green Thumb 
  • Must have a solid understanding of the Cannabis laws, rules and regulations and passion to further their understanding and knowledge of the industry and the laws. 

Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to work early mornings or nights and occasional weekends as required. 

Additional Requirements 

  • Must pass any and all required background checks  
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry  
  • Must possess valid driver’s license 
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age 
  • Must be approved by state badging agency to work in cannabis industry

Green Thumb is located in River North, a short walk from the Chicago Brown Line, near the Ohio expressway entrance, and close to many major bus routes.
