VP of Experience Design
Bounteous is looking for a VP of Experience Design focused in team and business growth. This person will collaborate with Sr. Leadership on the the vision and strategy for the practice, as well as building, up-skilling, and scaling the Experience Design team. Elevating the experience design work, winning new business, and growing the next level of leaders is a core responsibility.
Role and Responsibilities
- Partner with Sr. XD leadership to define the strategic vision, organizational structure, KPIs, and OKRs for the practice.
- Support the XD practice as we expand across borders into international markets
- Establish and improve processes related to selling Experience Design work.
- Articulate the business value of Experience Design to clients in conjunction with digital strategy, research, analytics, design systems, and content strategy.
- Support business development in pursuits, solutions, estimation and high level staffing plans.
- Evangelize the Experience Design competency within the XD practice and the larger Bounteous organization
- Work with group directors to define and maintain best practices and standards for our methodologies, activities, and deliverables.
- Ensure the team is equipped with the right skillsets, processes, training, and tools necessary to execute and demonstrate great work.
- Infuse the culture with a design thinking mindset—a creative approach to solving business, product, and user problems
- Serve as executive sponsor on strategic accounts.
- Coach, mentor and grow the next level of leaders
- Works in consort with resourcing to staff and cast team members and pursuits/projects for success.
- Skillfully balance multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Participate in Experience Design communities locally and nationally, bringing ideas and techniques into the team.
- Reinforce and model our culture and atmosphere, quality of work, and growth for the next generation of experience designers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education
- Bachelors or Advanced Degree in area of specialty such as Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
- Work Experience
- 16+ years of experience as a Experience Design professional
- 8 or more years experience mentoring, managing, and coaching direct reports
- Substantial demonstrable experience pitching new business, presenting work to clients, facilitating and leading workshops, and synthesizing data into actionable projects across programs
- Deep experience connecting Experience Design work to user, business, and brand value
- Ability to lead engagements to provide a strong voice for Experience Design within blended teams
- Deft familiarity and expertise in Experience Design activities and deliverables including experience strategy, workshop facilitation, customer journeys, personas, information architecture, sitemaps, user and process flows, wireframes, design systems, and audits.
- Experience in leading user research and testing, including planning, creation and moderation
- Strong background in human factors, information architecture, human factors, and user-centered design methodology
- Understanding of responsive design, mobile design, accessibility issues, and Agile methodology
- Experience in estimating, planning, and staffing project work
- Consulting/agency experience is required
- Tools & Software
- In depth knowledge of design and presentation software, specifically: Sketch, InVision, Miro, remote user testing tools, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Office products
- Communication Skills
- Excellent communicator with all levels of leadership, management, and staff to achieve desired outcomes and build strong alliances and relationships
- Excellent listener with a passion for user centered design
