VP of Product Design

SpotOn is a fast-growing Point-of-Sale, marketing, loyalty, sales, and reputation tracking platform that helps customers check in to earn rewards at their favorite local businesses using our web, mobile phone, and tablet products. Business owners can use data generated by these check-ins, as well as sales data, to reach out and connect with their customers, and manage their online reputation, and experience the benefits of loyal, returning customers.

As the VP of Product Design, you will lead a growing team of designers and user researchers and will be in charge of setting the design vision, strategy, workflow, and team structure that positions SpotOn as the premier leader in its market. You will report directly to our Co-founder and Chief Product Officer, and as such, will be a member of the Product Leadership responsible for planning, designing, and delivering the SpotOn product vision and roadmap.

What you’ll do…

• Build a vision for the future of the Design team needed to deliver business priorities.
• Partner with product and engineering leadership to translate business priorities into product vision, strategy, roadmap and OKRs.
• Infuse the culture with a design thinking mindset—a creative approach to solving business, product, and user problems
• Lead activities that elevate performance and deliverables including experience strategy, workshop facilitation, customer journeys, personas, information architecture, sitemaps, process flows, wireframes, design systems, and audits
• Create best-in-class, industry-leading design systems across marketing and product teams that position SpotOn as the premier leader in its market.
• Hire, train, coach, and grow the next level of design leaders and foster a collaborative, productive, and positive environment within a growing team.
• Strategically manage department growth through hiring, up-skilling, and scaling the Product Design team.
• Evangelize the business value and success of the Product Design team to internal and external stakeholders. 
• Be highly communicative and responsive both within your team and to stakeholders across the company while managing a large volume of ongoing projects.

What you’ll bring...

• 7+ years of experience as a design leader across multiple disciplines with proven experience leading design efforts on successful, complex, end-to-end projects at scale.
• 5+ years experience mentoring, managing, and coaching direct reports.
• History of creating amazing customer experiences ideally in a SaaS and/or Fintech.
• Understanding of responsive design, mobile design, accessibility issues, and Agile methodology.
• Executive presence and credibility at all levels across the organization.
• A communicator who knows how to influence stakeholders throughout the design journey.
• Fast-paced, self-motivated and resilient to life at a startup.
• Fluent in design tools needed to build tech products.
