Job Description
Position Overview
The Manager, Communications will lead project-level strategic communications and community affairs efforts across Invenergy’s portfolio of development-stage projects. You will work with key internal stakeholders including project developers, engineers, attorneys, and government affairs professionals to craft local PR strategies, build out project plans, retain consultants and field staff, and drive execution while reporting updates and progress to counterparts on the project team and Invenergy management.
The ideal candidate will be energetic, organized, detail-oriented, flexible, a problem solver, possess excellent communication skills, and be able to adjust to the changing demands of the job. Extensive communications experience in local land-use and/or political advocacy efforts and familiarity with the power generation sector is preferred.
Responsibilities

Lead communications campaigns in support of project development efforts through scoping, planning, execution, and post-project analysis

Monitor project progress, proactively identify potential problems, and work with project teams to fill gaps in capacity.

Manage outside public relations and public affairs consultants, and local staff, engaging them in strategy development, campaign execution, and post-project analysis.

Maintain a broad view of activities across Invenergy’s development and operating projects and teams and ensure there is high collaboration and consistency in process.

Facilitate positive feedback loops between community involvement and investment in host communities where Invenergy has operating projects and communities where Invenergy is developing new projects.

Build relationships with local, state, and national reporters and media outlets that cover topics related to clean energy.

Drive collection of data and metrics to evaluate and report not just on activities but on effectiveness of efforts and strategies.

Manage communication across Invenergy project teams, improving transparency, and consolidating information.

Direct strategic initiatives that support the overall project development environment that Invenergy operates within.
Required Skills
-
Minimum of 5+ experience driving time-sensitive, cross-functional project campaigns. 7+years preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Must be able to lead, collaborate, and work with a diverse team across various geographies.

Strong time management skills with ability to multi-task across projects

Exceptional relationship-building skills, organizational awareness, and ability to persuade others to accomplish project objectives.

Able to work well with highly technical staff and grassroots/community-based partners alike.
