Description
Caterpillar's Advanced Materials Technology Department is currently seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer focused on foundry support and casting development. In this role you will have an opportunity to provide the technical expertise necessary to develop and implement complex manufacturing operations and support sophisticated machines and related equipment.
Job Duties
Develop and maintain a variety of manufacturing processes to produce cast components supporting Caterpillar's entire product line safely and efficiently.
Provide metallurgical technical support for casting operations at Caterpillar and supplier facilities.
Create manufacturing operation specifications and supporting documents such as standard operation procedures and work instructions, setup drawings, tool specification sheets, production routings, operation cycle times, and rate process sheets.
Provide technical support to production floor operations and personnel.
Initiate and manage projects to address operational issues including ergonomic/safety risks, quality concerns, efficiency and cost savings improvements, introduction of new parts and processes, and process bottlenecks.
Support manufacturing process control and compliance certifications and audits.
Limited travel to support supplier quality and troubleshoot problems
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Materials or Metallurgical Engineering from an accredited college or university
5 years manufacturing support
Top Candidates will also have
Advanced Materials or Metallurgical Engineering Degree
Thorough knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts and principles.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Experience supporting manufacturing operations
Experience with casting and foundry operations
Additional Information
The location for this position is East Peoria, IL.
Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.
This position may require up to 10% travel.
