Department Overview

The Motorola Solutions Devices professional and commercial markets team designs world class end-to-end solutions for customers in many different types of industries including utilities, transportation, manufacturing, hospitality. The team specializes in utilizing business critical radio technologies such as DMR in conjunction with other wireless technology like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and LTE to create cutting edge solutions for our customers. The team is looking for a highly motivated, technically focused, and seasoned Android platform architect that is capable of working with internationally and geographically diverse development teams. Job Description

Candidates for this position are highly experienced and technically strong individuals who will play a critical role as a Technical Architect Lead with strong knowledge and hands-on experience in the design and development of Android based handheld and vehicular products.

The candidate will be responsible for device requirements and architecture for handheld devices, vehicular devices, and related accessories. The candidate will be a key resource across multiple product teams and must be a results-oriented problem-solver who requires minimal supervision.

Specifically, the architect will be working on a new portfolio of device introductions that begin with the first product launch in 2020. The architect will interface with the sales team, the system architecture team, the device development team,  and the applications team.

Additional Qualified Skills
 

• Hands on Hardware / Software / Firmware Development Experience on communication devices.
• Experience on integrating and upgrading AOSP on deployed devices.
• Knowledgeable in C, C++, Java, JNI, Android, Linux.
• Well versed in object oriented design and common design patterns.
• Experience with the Android framework and SELinux security policies
• Experience with GMS certification on handheld devices desired.
• Must possess strong foundation in embedded systems, networking, and power management techniques for mobile devices.
• Knowledgeable in mobile device technologies, including Smartphone LTE chipset architectures, geo-location technologies, camera/video, touch screen displays and public and private WANs/PANs.
• Proven experience providing technical solutions and implementation of systems and subsystems consisting of hardware and software components including feature requirements, architecture, design, and test strategy.
• Ability to lead product and feature development using a platform development strategy.
•  Experienced in the development of technology and product road maps.
• Demonstrated experience in effectively managing technical development downward and across teams, both internal and external.
• Ability to effectively seek out opinions & build trust/buy-in across all functional teams.
• Experienced in recommending staffing plans to management.
• Excellent communication and people skills with the ability to see assignments through to completion with minimal oversight.

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related degree); Master's degree preferred.

• 7+ years of Android platform development experience.
