Job Description

Application Developer for Allstate Insurance Company in Chicago, IL to oversees and advises on code/design analysis and strategy, business, functional, and high level technical requirements including recovery, security, and audit. Supports project management, develops code and design for the most complex projects, and oversees the review of code, design, and testing. Creates of accurate test plans, conditions, and conduct, and defines the process by which support and technical assistance is performed. Defines programming approach, tools, and techniques that best meet the business requirements, and oversee development standards. Identifies opportunities from a technical perspective, to promote process efficiency, simplification, and improving application performance. Collaborates with project managers to identify opportunities for improving project estimating processes, and analyzes downstream and client process impact and makes recommendations. Validates and makes recommendations for quality standards for completed code reviews. 

Job Qualifications

Requires Bachelor’s degree (or foreign educational equivalent) in Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology or a related field and five (5) years’ experience creating detailed technical specifications, developing application and system code, and participating in code review and module testing for Android mobile applications. Specific skills/other requirements (quantitative experience requirements not applicable to this section) – must have expertise in: Demonstrated expertise (DE) implementing advanced sensor features such as GPS, Accelerometer, Gyrometer, and Magnetometer integration; DE with hands-on mobile application development experience for Android phones/tablets; DE implementing scoring models within Android; DE with enterprise level, high-availability mobile application development; DE working in an agile development environment (Scrum, XP, etc.); and DE implementing and integrating with web services (REST, SOAP, JSON).
