We are seeking an Application Support Engineer to join our rapidly growing global workforce in Chicago. The Application Support team is responsible for monitoring, managing, and supporting our global production trading systems. Your work will range from handling time-sensitive production issues to driving forward longer-term projects, such as automation initiatives and major platform changes. You will work closely with Trading, Operations, Development, and Infrastructure teams at ThinkMarkets as well as external vendors and support staff. 

Responsibilities:  

• Provide best-in-class operational support to ensure the stability and high availability of our production systems and trading platforms 
• Troubleshoot production incidents and outages resulting from internal (proprietary trading system components) or external factors (trading venues, market data feeds, network outages)  
• Collaborate with Infrastructure and DevOps teams to automate configuration management and continuously monitor our trading systems 
• Own the production deployment and configuration process while striving for higher levels of excellence surrounding change management 
• Identify new ways to improve operations and define new solutions to solve technical or business issues that impact ThinkMarkets’ trading platforms 
• Support our diverse presence across markets, interacting with various trading venues regarding our trading activity, connectivity, and other technical support issues 
• Foresee scalability problems and address them in a timely manner 
• Work with trading venues and third-party vendors to coordinate testing, upgrades and migrations 

Requirements 

• 3-5 years of trading application support experience in a financial services firm 
• Experience working with Windows and Linux in enterprise systems 
• Solid understanding of global financial markets in particular Cash Equities, Options, and any Futures experience is preferred 
• Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills  
• Good knowledge of FIX protocol and connectivity for market data and order flow 
• Any MetaTrader experience would be a plus  
• Proficiency in scripting languages (python, bash, batch, etc) for automation of repeatable tasks 
• Intellectually curious individual, eager to learn and apply new concepts quickly 
• Highly collaborative team player with the ability to build relationships with multiple teams 
• Solid understanding of technical concepts related to networking and system engineering 
• Available to participate in an on-call rotation and work outside of business hours and on weekends for maintenance and DR tests
