Job Summary:
The Sr. Engineering Manager is the direct leader of more critical groups with significant responsibilities. These groups may sometimes be more heavily resourced with more senior staff or more staff in general or be responsible for more technically complex or strategically important parts of the architecture or product. Sr. Engineering Managers are expected to build relationships throughout the organization to ensure whole-company alignment and support for their goals, and vice-versa. The Sr. Engineering Manager architects and designs their digital products using modern tools, technologies, frameworks, and systems. They apply a systematic application of scientific and technological knowledge, methods, and experience to the design, implementation, testing, and documentation of software. They own and manage running their application in production, and ultimately becomes accountable for the success of their digital products through achieving KPIs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage teams that are responsible for strategic and critical pieces of architecture or provide functions that are of key strategic value to the business.
- Act as an authority in software best practices and be relied upon to propagate these in the broader organization, beyond their individual team.
- Frequently advise others on complex engineering matters.
- Build foundation to translate strategy into challenging and meaningful goals
- Expert ability to view the organization as a whole.
- Leverage and influence key stakeholders
- Establishes vision, direction, and specific objectives for team efforts; allows freedom to accomplish objectives
- Work with a fully distributed remote engineering team to develop and implement the product roadmap.
- Design, architect Arity SDK and telematics app for iOS and Android.
- Work with a fully distributed remote engineering team to develop and implement the product roadmap.
- Participate in product scoping, discovery and framing, and inceptions providing technical input and helps translate user features into system design
- Hire, onboard, lead and develop a highly skilled and motivated team of engineering managers and engineers.
- Collects staff performance data against desired outcomes and service level agreements

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Education and Experience:
- A college degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or similar field, including a solid understanding of Computer Science fundamentals
- 2+ years of senior engineering management experience leading leaders
- 5+ years of management experience
- Able to understand the strategy / objectives of Arity and then chart a technical roadmap for how to achieve those goals
- iOS: Strong knowledge of Objective C or Swift.
- Android: Strong knowledge of Kotlin or Java
- TDD experience
- Experience with multi-threaded environment and a complex software workflow is a big plus
- Experiencing with iPhone and Android sensors or a telematics project is a big plus.
- Experience in developing iOS/Android libraries is a big plus.

• Advanced ability to influence leadership
• Expert commination skills and ability to shift narrative to different stakeholders
• Technical skills required may include: HTML, CSS, Javascript, REST, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery, ReactJs, Redux, NodeJS
• Experience with Agile software and test-driven development, as well as the ability to find fulfillment in building innovative products a plus
• Workflow flexibility and strong teamwork skills
• A natural aptitude for teaching and learning from others in a collaborative team environment
