What You’ll Do

You will be joining this Chicago based Devops team and supporting the development efforts of the OCC Clearing Development. The team strives for goals that refine and automate the processes needed to support the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Must have experience with Kubernetes, to lead and train internally, as part of support provided for the Clearing group. Other skills to be utilized: Splunk, ElasticSearch, Prometheus, AppDynamics. Working knowledge of DevOps tools. Eg Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Helm and CI/CD pipeline

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.

  • Support the maintenance and configuration of development environments in Kubernetes and AWS. Enable development teams to self-service build and deployment processes through process automation.
  • Design and implement process improvements across the build, deployment, and monitoring of Clearing applications.
  • Develop and support terraform, ansible, Harness, and Jenkins jobs used to instantiate and manage development environments.

Required Qualifications:

  • Understanding of Kanban and/or Agile methodologies
  • Able to succeed in fast-paced environment with frequent changes
  • Comfortable communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Self-starter – takes the initiative to research, learn and deliver
  • Team player – humble, collaborative, and focused on making sure the entire team succeeds

Technical Skills:

  • Programming/scripting experience in languages like Java, Bash, Python or Go is required.

  • Knowledge and experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools (examples - GitHub, Jenkins, Artifactory, Docker, Compose, K8s).

  • Java development experience is desirable.

  • Experience with distributed message brokers like Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Amazon Kinesis, etc.

  • Experience with cloud technologies and migrations is required.  

  • Experience preferred with AWS foundational services like VPCs, Security groups, EC2, RDS, S3 ACLs, KMS, AWS CLI and IAM etc.

  • Experience developing and delivering technical solutions using public cloud service providers like Amazon, Google, etc.

  • Experience with RESTful APIs and JSON RPC. Experience following Git workflows. ​

Education and/or Experience:

  • BS degree in Computer Science, similar technical field, or equivalent experience

  • 1+ years of experience in building large scale, data-centric solutions

  • 3+ years of experience (recent) participating on a DevOps team or as product owner for DevOps team

OCC’s enterprise-level solution for centralizing data
Executive Director of Enterprise Technology Solutions Jennifer Stathis is helping to build an enterprise data platform, which will provide the foundation for establishing data as a centralized resource across the organization. “Our team’s mission is to enable our business partners to do their jobs more efficiently and effectively while finding ways to reduce manual work with automation,” Stathis said. “Creating a self-service platform will give our business partners much faster access to data and information, removing the IT bottleneck from the process.”

Now as a senior associate, Christ loves the freedom she has to play with tech during a project’s journey. “We’re very hands-on with various tools related to security scanning, CI/CD and data integrity,” she said. This approach empowers Christ to learn more and achieve her best work, which currently includes making OCC’s transition to the cloud transparent and measurable. “I’m excited to be in such a challenging environment with so many opportunities for growth!”
